My gran has just been offered a Northern Counties flat at a block called Applegarth, near Manor Top/Intake. Has anyone any info on this place? What's the area like? What are the flats like? Any experiences/advice welcome!

The flats are very nice and it's in a little quiet oasis and the residents seem quite friendly. The main roads you need to cross to get to the main shops can look a bit scary but there are pelicans which help if you're a bit slow on your feet.
I've never experienced any trouble round Manor Top and can only assume the rough reputation the area had has diminished somewhat. The big field behind the fire station leading down to Woodthorpe is somewhere to avoid when the kids are hanging around as it is a popular area for riding stolen bikes or burning out cars. However there is no access from the field on to Applegarth so it's not as though you have noise and a lot of passersby walking past the flats..
