my son was placed on a cto on release from hospital the mental health team forgot it was due to be reapplied for now it has lasped i have name and address of person i have to write in a complaint to but what do we do now he can refuse his meds and no one can do anything about it so then our family will just have to sit and wait for him to become unwell again.i dont know where to get advice from or even could i take leagle action

Yes the citizens advice has a mental health advocacy service, i think they are based at the michael carlisle centre.....good luck

Have you spoke to his care co-ordinator? they should help. alternatively talk to the menal health act commission.

your son's RMO, usually the community consulant, should be the one who is resp for the cto. unfort because they are so new and some proff are ethically opposed to them it's still a bit of a minefield at the moment...
