too right i whent pasted it this morning, and fields are full off grain.i think the farmer as sold them strawberry fields.as some of that land has changed hands.as the owner as died so some as been split up..as we know the farmers down their..i think it belongs to a farmer out stocksbridge way...he did live by the fly-over up chap

Could it be to do with crop rotation??

I bought some at the spar shop near me yesterday for £2, had to throw the rest of them away today- all gone mouldy:rant::rant:

John..

He had been there for years previously without a break, will more than likely go to Whirlow Farm over the next couple of weeks.

Rang the one at Holmesfield Rd, Dronfield Woodhouse, answerphone says open 10-6 today (Fri 2/7), offering PYO strawbs at £1.20/lb, PYO gooseberries at £1.10/lb and rhubarb too.

I used to love going to the Bootsale at Holmesfield, the grass was so soft, it was like walking on a carpet with three layers of underlay:P

But then the idiots that just had to park on the road made it dangerous, it was closed down after a juggernaught couldn't get through properly and damaged about six cars!!...

Been to Pearsons Farm this morning (the one over Dronfield Woodhouse/ Holmesfield way), picked strawberries. He has a list of other stuff he does (PYO) and the rough times of year- I plan to go back for peas soon

some places aren't bothering doing PYO because of the cost of making the site safe and public liability insurance. Got some today from Just Natural on Crookes, 2 punnets for a quid, not worth the petrol to go PYO at those prices :)
