has anyone else noticed a few homeless people getting on buses recently? I assume most of them are just trying to get out of the cold but sometimes its a problem.

I know a month or two ago, I was on a bus and the driver had let a homeless guy on who was completely off his face, I think he had some kind of mental disability and he ended up harrassing school girls on the bus and then following them off the bus and running after them.

Luckily, I noticed what was happening and got off the bus to lend my service. No one else was willing to do anything, they just stood by and watched. In the end he was arrested, but he managed to steel food and harras several other people before the police even arrived.

Should bus drivers prevent homeless people from using the buses to get warm? I know some even insult the homeless, but others seem to let them on.

I did question that myself, I have no idea how they sometimes manage to get on the bus in the first place.

i just dont want to be unfair to homeless peeps,
i mean i wouldnt want to be a bus driver full stop can you imagine the last bus, everybody drunk urgh, for what they get paid they should not have to decide who gets on,if theyve got the fare it should not be the drivers problem:(

if they pay to get on the buses and dont annoy anyone then wheres the problem?

but if they do annoy anyone its exactly the same as if some Rich ponce got on the bus and started telling everyone how rich they were and getting thrown off.

doesnt matter how big your home is(or if you have one) to get on the bus.

What is the possition as regards drivers allowing people (homeless or otherwise) who are drunk onto buses in the first place.

There have been several times when I have been on a bus and someone has boarded the bus who I would rather had not and who was clearly drunk.

Do drivers have the right (or perhaps a duty to other passengers) to refuse entry to anyone who appears to be drunk?

I would imagine they do have that right yes. But then they probably don't care.

That might have been me.

Seriously if someone is just drunk and isn't causing a scene whats the problem ?

I think most passengers would prefer drunk people not allowed on buses in the first place. Anyway, how can the driver tell what they will be like when the first get on; better safe than sorry.

ffs - wait till the morality crew catch hold of this thread - how do you know he's homeless anyway - does he have a sign around his neck. I bet most bus drivers get more hassle from smart arsed tw*ts on a friday night then they ever get from homeless people...

If you don't allow anyone on a bus who could potentially cause a problem the busses would be completely empty except for pensioners.

Doesn't matter who they are, where they come from and what their material possesions are, the rule is the same . .

keep yourself to yourself and no bother anyone, ride as much as you want on buses.

Look for trouble, intimidation, conflict or set out to be a general pain in the a$$ and you aint welcome. .

It the driver asks someone to kinldy alight the veihcle and they not so kindly decline, then it's up to the passengers to make it clear that by stopping this bus from progressing its journey, is stealing my life, which ain't summat I take to kindly to. .
