Olivers Mount is a road that runs up the side of High Hazel's Park. It is probably the most exclusive street in S9! There is a sports field at the top that is used fopr football etc. but I don't know what it is called. I think there used to be a membership sports club there at some point,

Oliver is a handsworth family name. when I was young there was a butcher shop called Olivers and one or two went to Darnall Day Nursery.

Have a rummage through this list: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=854362&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending

you should be able to find some antique maps in there

I'm a keen historian for Handsworth, but I've got to admit I've not heard of Oliver's Field, have heard of Sandersons Field.
Did you get this info from a census and if so which year, then I can go look it up and possibly cross reference as to where it might have been

I've had a look around at some information I have:
Olivers Mount was built on Land belonging to the Oliver Brothers Ernest and Oliver, who had the nearby High Hazels Farm, they built Olivers Mount in 1933. They also purchased and lived in Bramley Hall at Handsworth, of which they built the Bramley Housing Estate in 1935.

So its possible the caravan could have been sited on a field belonging to the Oliver brothers.

Hiya John,
When it closed down, it was owned by Hadfields ( East Hecla )
and was closed down in 1984. The sports club stood in 25 hectares of grounds , It is now part of the municipal golf course.
