As I get older,Ive found it very difficult to throw things away, especially paperwork (Dont mean junkmail)I shred a lot of paperwork, but I find this difficult to do.

Its because every time Ive thrown something away, either somebody asks for it, or I find I need to use it. Is anyone else like this ? Once I had a liquidiser for ten years, and because Id only used it twice, I gave it Charity. The very next day my husband asked for it,to use it for something !Maybe its a form of illnes like O.C.D. Maybe I should call it FOD(Fear of disposal) I feel quire paranoid about it sometimes.

(Have you emptied the bin?- sorry had to get my terrible humour in before someone else did!)

I have been suffering from FOD, and my desk is a mess. I thought it was due to my arrangemental incompetence, but recently I began to think it's a mere illness.
Thank you for the technical term, that can baffle my colleagues. :D

But why can't I throw papers away as I've gotten older?
I wonder I play defensive games rather than create new things or gained wisdom or ..

when you find the answer, please tell me patricia ... my family keep threatening to enter me for the Life Laundry programme :O

It seemed to start with several bereavements of close family, I had to do the clearances and found it very hard to part with anything ... since then it's extended to encompass most things that come into the house ...

There's hardly room for people now ... :help:

Oh God I am just the same. I know I need to have a clear out & throw things away but I just can't do it - far too sentimental.

Don't worry, when you've passed a certain age you'll find that you can't be bothered with all that rubbish (jugs, casseroles, plates, bits of wood, tins of paint that you used 10 years ago etc, etc.) that you thought you couldn't do without.
You will then make a fortune selling it at a boot fair.
Or perhaps the dustman will
