there lovely my 2 never stay still long enough to get pictures
Lovely lighting and exposure to enable you to see detail without reflections from their eyes and white bits.
Did you manipulate them afterwards, or did you take them without flash? Flash often makes such a mess of animal photos, both eyes and glossy coats.
The focus on their faces is great too :)

Both were taken with flash, the first with my studio strobes and the 2nd with my fashgun behind a soft box, you can actually see the reflections in the eyes, in the first my octa-softbox and the 2nd has the square softbox that i use for location work. No real manipulation apart from tweaking the levels, contrast etc.
If you use direct flash you will get reflection from the back of the eye, so not a good thing.

Lovely photos. :) The first looks a tad red though.. Exposure is spot-on, plenty of detail in the whites of the first.

The first is very impressive Lee but both have great detail and exp, agree on the redish tinge but that's not such a problem for correcting.
Nice work! H.
