Anyone watch this?

I didn't have high hopes because it wasn't one of my favourite books but it was fantastic. So much better than the previous adaptations.

I was so looking forward to this has was my OH to has we are both fans of his books and it was fantastic. Was really hoping they would not ruin his work by doing this, but i really enjoyed it. Glad i recorded it so i can watch it again.

I deliberately don't watch any adaptations because no matter who writes the screenplay, their opinions on what the characters are meant to look like don't agree with what mine are and it's invariably a disappointment.

I agree with this. Corporal Nobbs is supposed to have been something that is barely human - has to carry a certificate to prove he is human, but did not look anything but human in the second film.
Going Postal missed out an important part of the story for me - which is the postmasters initiation. I waited for that all through the film but it was missed out.
It was not bad, but The Hogfather is still the best so far in my opinion. I wonder how many they will make. Be good to have wyrd sisters and Lords and Ladies made into a film but probably too difficult as they will have problems getting the witches right. Sigh!

I read the book once and didnt like it because it seemed to be totally different to Pratchetts other Diskworld stuff.

I watched the prog and loved it- as far as Im concerned its the best one thats gone to the screen yet by a long chalk.

I started to read the book again yesterday and for some reason I`m enjoying the book this time around.

I read all of TP's books from when I was a teenager, sometimes a couple a week, rushing down to the local bookshop to get the next one. One day, when I'd exhausted all the available Discworld at the time, I started reading more 'serious' fantasy novels and unfortunately I lost interest in it.

My parents are still avid readers, but having never read Going Postal and so I won't watch it on TV. I would have loved one of the more earlier books to have been done, although as medusa says, it's never as good as your imagination.

Comparing it to a book is futile. You might as well compare it to a painting - however inviting the comparison is.

Viewed as pure television it was excellent. "Mucked about with by Sir Terry Pratchett" it said in the credits, as if they needed to mention it. This was bank holiday TV at its best.

I can't really fault it in any serious way - which annoys me, as it's a Murdoch production. :P

Going Postal, is in my opinion, his best Discworld book to date and this was a great TV adaptation.

(and Adora Belle Deerheart was delicious.)

I thought Charles Dance was a consummate Vetinari and I liked that the guy playing Moist wasn't such a household name. His acting shone through whereas Colour of Magic/Light Fantastic were let down a bit by Rincewind being David Jason playing David Jason if you know what I mean.

As for Hogfather, sorry I just couldn't cope with Teatime's accent. Susan was good though.

Timothy West as Arch Chancellor Mustrum Ridcully was inspired casting. I do hope they adapt a Wizzardy Pratchett book next - and get him in again.

Andrew Sachs as Junior Postman groat was also a delight.

I also liked the brief appearances from Angua, very frightening. And Mr Pump was pretty much as I imagined him.

According to SFX, the next one is planned to be Sourcery.

ouch! Sourcery is one of the weaker books, in my opinion. I loved Going Postal, though. Haven't seen the Sky version; got it recorded to watch with my OH sometime soon.

I enjoyed Going Postal a lot. Great cast and certainly the best one so far.

I just wish they'd get around to doing Guards Guards or Wyrd Sisters. I really want to hear Nanny Ogg singing the Hedgehog song.

Or maybe Moving Pictures just for CMOT Dibbler.

Guards! Guards! is my favourite of the early books. Shame if Sourcery is the next one, I find Rincewind a bit of a naff character.

Reaper man, I`d love to see that on tv.
