Band B - £14,424 - £15,273 pro rata + 14% shift allowance

Does anybody know what band B means. And what does the 14% SHIFT ALLOWANCE MEAN?
Thankyou

Well, looks like Band B is the employer's salary band for the job - i.e. it's an internal 'name' for that range of pay.

The Shift Allowance is an additional payment made, I would assume, for working shift patterns arther than a bog-standard 9 to 5 working day.

That would be my understanding, but I'd suggest you ask the company concerned.

These sort of things vary from firm to firm and job to job. For example, the Allowance might apply to every shift you're on, or it might only apply to night shifts or afters, for example.

If you get an interview for such a role, that's when you'd normally get clarification of these sorts of questions. However, if you're wondering whether you want to apply for the job, just give the Personnel department of the company a call and sk them.

Pro rata usually means that that is what you'd get if you were working full time, but this is a part time post so you have to divide this range by the number of hours they deem a whole week, then multiply back up by the number of hours you are actually working

Printing an hourly rate would be far too easy to understand

Oh no it doesnt mean that its part time does it. I knew it was too good to be true to be paid that much for doing half the hours I do now. I cant believe it. Im so gutted. I really thought it was full time. Thankyou anyway everyone :(

If its a job within the nhs, its the new payscale. all staff are now 'banded' as opposed to being on a 'grade' (well, us nurses are anyway).
many in the nhs are unhappy about it....especially after the regrading fiasco of 20 odd years ago.....on the ward i worked on, we had a 'new' job description to sign.....:loopy: we got about £50 a year more than before, but less unsocial hours and less annual leave.

maybe completlely off target here....just a guess.

Is it NHS? The new agenda for change has brought out bands...
