Having explored all the options for printing at home, I decided that it's so cheap to have them printed at the likes of Asda, Boots, Jessops, that I decided not to bother.
Then I found www.photobox.co.uk  Better prices, better facilities for cropping and positioning than the shops seem to be able to offer, and they can print on all sorts of different things - like mugs, mousemats, calenders, canvas.....
And it still works out cheaper than buying your own photo paper
PS - they do next day delivery I think
I buy Printasia 6" x 4" glossy paper (280 g/m) 27 sheets from argos for £10.99 buy one get one free. I also get A4 glossy paper (280g/m) Ilford Galerie £11.99 for 25 sheets again buy one get one free very good deal and thats from Jacobs just off the Moor. I buy my ink from XLShop.com for my Epson C62 printer, they are compatable cartidges and I get three colour and three black for £32.95 and that includes v.a.t. and postage.

HP Premium Glossy for me, but I'm really critical about the output quality.
Mixing and matching papers with printers can produce unexpected results as the reflectivity of paper at given light lengths (colours) can vary - the colour profiles in the printer driver are calibrated for use with original inks and paper so if you're critical about the output (for example, it's for college / university work or you're producing output for commercial proofing) then it's (in my opinion at least) best to try to keep everything tallied up.
I had some test prints done recently through a certain well-known chain of photographic stores and the results were really, really horrible. Flat skin tones and jagged edges in high contrast areas; the A3 prints I'd done myself had, smooth, subtle changes of tone and there were no "jaggies" to speak of. However, that's my experience, other people will have had different outcomes from different companies - hopefully better than mine!

Yeah but why pay 3 quid to get in when all you're going for is Printer paper? You could get some good paper from Tesco for fairly cheap, as I've done before.
In fact I might nip across in the morning for some, running out now.
