Have you ever seen that advert. ( most people have) It has the catchy song "How do you like your eggs in the morning". Its advertising the tropicana juice . But my question is, Half way through the advert it shows a cheff pouring some kind of lovely sauce on some eggs on a plate which are on top of some kind of bread. I know this is such a wierd question but does anybody know what recipe that is or at least what kind of gorgeous sauce it is that he is pouring over the eggs. It looks sooooo nice i would love to have it. PLEASE HELP THE WIERDEST PERSON ON THE SHEFFIELD FORUM! hahaha.:help: :help:  :help: :help:

He's pouring hollandaise over a poached egg on a toasted muffin with bacon - it's called "Eggs Benedict"

v. nice.

There are lots of versions of it though......

nick2 - are you a chef, because I have noticed that whenever a food thread comes up you always have an answer, no matter how odd the question. (not that i'm saying Clarerob is odd)

Like a rich buttery warm mayonaise kind of.

Hard to describe, but it's almost as good as sex.

Think warm thinnish mayo but more buttery than oil based. Barely a calorie in it..........

Eggs Benedict at the weekend is my most favourite-ist morning food!! Contrary to common belief Hollandaise is remarkably easy to make. I use Michel Roux's recipe in his book "Sauces". The one thing to remember is that Hollandaise does not like to be kept waiting and needs to be made fresh!

best way to have an egg in the morning, is with another one on a plate with 2 thick rashers of smokey bacon and curly link of cumberand sausage and a thick slice of crispy fried bread from an ucut loaf none of this pretend bread from plastic bags.
HP sauce and some cowboy beans (de glaze the fry pan and then throw in the beans for a minute after cooking all other items in it.

Enjyoment 10/10

Is £5 too much for a delicious breakfast dish, cooked by someone who has trained and worked hard, using ingredients that they have sourced locally in pleasant surroundings that they have to pay rent and rates on. I don't know where some of you get off.

Some people are just cheap skates Pete_Jim. I'm more than happy to pay a fair amount of money for a well crafted dish.

I'm prepared to pay too, but if I pay a fair amount I expect the food to be perfect. If the aforementioned cafe did use fresh muffins, free range eggs, dry cured bacon and freshly made hollandaise I would pay £5 for it.

I like poached eggs or scrambled eggs [the latter with poached salmon added] on toast . The eggs must be free range, preferably with bits of feather on the shells to add authenticity. The bread must be lubricated with butter, never margarine. Black and red pepper should be sprinkled lightly over the finished product. A glass of fresh orange juice, followed by good quality coffee [Douwe Egberts, perhaps] should also be available. The Daily Telegraph should be at hand for perusal, with Debussy piano pieces playing in the background. Failing this, I'll have a poptart.

The lyrics, originally performed by Dean Martin with Helen O'Connell.

Timo, you could duet with Geri Halliwell, your favourite pop tart.

(H) How do you like your eggs in the morning
(D) I like mine with a kiss
(H) Boiled or fried (D) I'm satisfied as long as I get my kiss
(H) How do you like your toast in the morning
(H) I like mine with a hug
(H) Dark or light (D) the world's all right as long as I get my hug

(D) I've got to have my love in the morning
(H) Or the rest of my day is positively mayhem
(D) I'm a regular monster
(H) How do you like your eggs in the morning
(D) I like mine with a kiss
(H) Up or down (D) I'll never frown eggs can be almost bliss
(D) Just as long as I get my kiss

(D) How do you like your eggs in the morning (H) how do you like your eggs in the morning
(D) I like mine with a kiss (H) I like mine with a kiss
(D) Boiled or fried (H) I'm satisfied (Both) as long as I get my kiss

(H) How do you like your toast in the morning (D) how do you like your toast in the morning
(H) I like mine with a hug (D) I like mine with a hug

Nick,
You've gone to all that trouble just for me! How glad I am that I made that Halliwell/ Poptart jibe all those weeks ago. Actually, I'll let you into a secret, dear boy. The tv advert featuring the song is the subject of a shared joke between my wife and I. She likes me to sing the song loudly in the car , crooner style, but adding my own, typically perverse, lyrics. We were passing a pub in Lancashire the other day with people boozing outside at tables, and I forgot the window was down; 'How do you like your eggs in the morning- I like 'em jammed up my a**' seemed to cause a mixture of amusement and horror amongst the al fresco patrons.
