hi peeps,
anyone know what you need to take to post office to get refund on tax disc?
just the disc or do you need log book aswell.
also, when's the best time to take it in to get the most use from the vehicle - as you cant drive the vehicle without disc and would be shame to miss out on two weeks driving if taking it in early etc.
thanks
I didn't know you could get a refund
But thanks for the reminder cause I need to get mine done for next month
you need a V14 from post office and stick tax disc to it.
They only refund full months that are left.

I think you need the V5.
Note that you can't claim back the month you are currently in, so if there's less than 1 month left you can't claim anything at all. If there's more than one month left, take it in on the last day of the month to get most driving for your money, but remember to declare it SORN at the same time!

You can download the form from their website and print it off.

That would be a V14. Here:

And it can take between 3-8 weeks for the refund to arrive:o
like spiffymonkey says make sure its off the rd and sorn.or you could end up in a lot of red tape and trouble;)

I had to do this a few weeks ago, as I sold my old car,and like everyone says:
* download the V14 form form their website and print it off
* fill it in, and attach your tax disc
* post if off to the DVLA (address is on the form)
* You will get a cheque within a few weeks for every full month remaining.
It took just under two weeks from sending it off to getting it back for me, but I guess these things vary.
Take care when you part-ex a car via a dealer.
They can 'include' any remaining road tax in the deal, (detailed in the small print of course).

Not sure whereabouts in Sheffield you are - but you can always take the form and tax disc to the DVLA office in Sheffield :

I did this at the end of July and received the refund a couple of weeks later.
That way you can use it up to the last day of the month.
