Hi,

I'm getting married next year and i want to have my teeth profesionally whitened. I'm thinking of going to P S Burns dentist on Charles Street in town. Has anyone ever had this done, particularly at this dentists? Is it considerably better than using the kits you can buy to do it yourself.

Cheers

I know a few who have been very very pleased with Philip Burns' work. I know him too, and he really does take an interest in improving the procedure and patient satisfaction. It's difficult to get him off the subject ! :D

Would love to have this done too, worry about the cost and if it damages your teeth though?!!

Crest whitening strips work fairly well.

I bought a tooth whitening kit off ebay for £8 thats really good, the guy has sold thousands all to different countries and has 100% feedback. you get the mouth shield things and apparently its a similar thing to what dentists use. i would def recommend! just do a search on whitening kit on ebay and it should bring up the seller!

whitening kits? pfft... just swill some hydrochloric acid round your mouth that'll soon sort your teeth out :D

personally I wouldn't have it done, teeth aren't meant to be white anyways, they're naturally a slight yellow even if you keep them perfectly clean and never smoke or drink coffee/tea...

if its done proffesionally they just prise your mouth open and apply mild acidic substances to your teeth... sounds like great fun to me :P

I bought a Boots Home Kit for Whitening Teeth. Used it about 6 times before I became so bored of the procedures involved that I threw it away to preserve my sanity.

Why do something yourself that you could pay somebody else a huge amount of money to do it for you?

Phillip Burns is an excellant dentist and has been for many years
If anyone can do it , he can, unfortunatly I had to change dentists when we moved, and I have now replaced him with another excellant dentist.

Does anyone know how much it costs to get your teeth whitened?

Also, what effect does the whitening have on white fillings? I know these discolour more quickly than real teeth, but will they brighten up to their original colour?

I phoned PS Burns dental surgery to find out prices and they offer 3 options, the cheapest one is £475 and the most expensive one is £650. The info they sent me says that the treatment can remove stains from white fillings but you should discuss with your dentist what to expect.

I've just had my teeth whitened at PSBurns dental surgery in town (after reading the posts on here).
The results are amazing, my teeth have gone about 10 shades lighter-i cant stop smiling!!!!! :D

I had a free consultation with Mr Burns and the procedure was carried out in about 1 1/2 hours altogether...i was seen the day after i called!!!!!

i went for the most expensive one (£605) but it was well worth it as i got some free britesmile products and a set of home bleaching trays to top up when need be. i also get 50% off my next britesmile.

A few people mentioned the trays and whitening toothpastes you can get on the high street, and, as a previous user of these i can say that if its results you're after, then go for the britesmile.

i can definitely recommend this surgery, they saw me very quickly, and i know they will see you even if you have your own dentist.

I used a home kit once but after a few sessions my teeth were so painful I lobbed it. My friend had them done at a dentist...but although they shone like a star (I thought she looked ridiculous personally) she was told that the moment she returned to drinking tea or coffee or wine, they would become dull again and prone to more noticeable staining.
