any one know how I can transfer the music from my tapes to a cd

Nooooo, can't do that, it's illegal, probably.

If you were to do it you'd need a sound card with a line in, a tape deck with a line and a CD-RW drive, and some software. Not exactly sure what software you'd want as I've only ever done CD to CD........

I use 'Roxio Toast 6' software, i use it to digitise vinyl and old tapes.
it comes with 'Spin doctor' which removes pops and clicks and with various filters enhances the sound.
Mine's for Mac but i would emagine they do it for pc

I used Roxio Easy Media Creator. But didn't fart around with connecting the tape player into RW on the computer.

Dennon tape deck --> CDRW through an amp.

Digitalised the recordings that were recorded onto a CDRW, then copied the tape contents onto CDR, but to be fair, I had very few tapes.
