I have a massive garden but the prices to buy small bags are working out into triple figures!! please HELP!! neeeeeeeeeek 19-05-2010, 12:50 Buying cheap compost is a false economy, nothing will grow! Do you want it for Veg or just flowers? if you plan on harvesting anything then it is worth paying extra, at least for half of it. May be put some cheaper stuff down first them good stuff on top. B&Q and Westland did best in Which reviews this year. Undertaker1 19-05-2010, 12:54 Hi thanks for that I am a novice gardner, my lawn (if I can call it that) is uneven wich makes it difficult so mow so I was thinking of getting some compost or soil to make it even. Which would you recommend ? also there is a lot of weeds!! gina2007 19-05-2010, 13:29 Ahh I think you might benefit from topsoil. Places deliver it by the tonne for £20-£50 obviously depending what quality you want. We're in the process of seeing how many tonne we'd need to level our garden off :) crashmepleas 19-05-2010, 13:31 If the weeds are really bad and it's uneven then it may sound harsh but how about completely relaying the lawn? Maybe you can dig up the best bits of grass to save, bin the weedy bits, flatten the whole lawn, re-lay the best bits of grass and re-seed the rest? You'll only need some decent grass seed and a bit of time then. neeeeeeeeeek 19-05-2010, 14:06 If it's just uneven then A1 turf supplies deliver top soil quite cheap, it will be fine for leveling your lawn if you just plan to spread it over the uneven bits then sprinkle grass seed over them. If the lawn is totally shagged then you could consider leveling the ground and turfing it. Unless it's a massive lawn turf is not that expensive. Go to A1 for both and probably some good advice. gina2007 19-05-2010, 14:08 neeeeeeeeeeek (no I didnt count the E's in your name lol) do you have a number for A1? We're after some topsoil x neeeeeeeeeek 19-05-2010, 15:11 http://www.a1turfsupplies.com/1390/frames.php |
