Would anyone be keen to start up a free networking event within the Sheffield Forum? Idea was to meet up monthly in a pub somewhere in middle of Sheffield and do some business networking.

I'm just starting up my own business and am new to Sheffield so could do with some contacts.

I know that the Sheffield forum business networking has been done before, but am not sure whether it was successful or not. If not successful, what went wrong, what can we learn to make it successful so that we can grow our own business support network?

Otherwise, does anyone know of any free networking events I could start going to regularly?

Contact Business Link Yorkshire, they run regular events.

Hi SPLcoach

Welcome to Sheffield!

The Forum did indeed set up a networking event. I went along to one, and it was good to meet with everyone. I think the problem in the end was deciding on a set day/ date each month that allowed enough people to attend.

SteveRoberts is right- Business Link are a good starter. as are BiG/ Solutions for Business (their new name?). Have a wander along to the Town Hall, and ask for First For Business. They'll help you out :-)

Solution for Business is the brand name of the Department of BIS; will be interesting to see what it gets renamed to after the election!
