View Full Version : Burning paper through letterbox
Speaking of police, I am currently awaiting a visit from them regarding some moron pushing burning paper through my letterbox.
Ive been waiting almost 2 hours now,was put on hold with there new call system,,,how cool is that ?.
:loopy:
Maybe I should call them back and say my Tax has expired and the will get here quicker.
Well the police are pulling all the stops out tonight, now 3 hours and still no sign.
Maybe it would have been better if the house ahd been burnt to the ground, then maybe it would warrant some attention.
YIPEEEEE Police arived at 2100
I have to award them 10/10 for lack of interest:mad:
No witness,no action ????????
Top tip, when the police visit you make sure you turn off the TV,as they seem to be more interested in what is on.
Wednesday 7th Dec:
I was unfortunate enough to have what seemed to be parrofin and buring paper pushed through my letterbox.
The police were informed and took about 5 hrs to attend, stayed for about ten minutes and went.
They said as there was not a witness they could do very little about it,and it was most likely kids messing about.
How many kids carry parrofin theses days ????
I contacted my landlord (SYHA) who said the would visit us the next day as we have a dispute with a neighbour.
The following day he said that after being stuck in a meeting he could not come and would come on Friday.
Im confused:
Do these people see the saftey of two small children as a priority ?,if I was to track these people down and administor some baseball bat justice I would be haulded before the beak.
So now as a society we have to be held to ransom by these morons who quite clearly are above the law.
catch them and send them to bed with no tea is about the worst they will get,in the meantime people live in fear.
2004 same crap,different year
Moon Maiden 08-01-2004, 11:48 gawds this winds me up.
What do you have to do to get some simple justice - oh sorry I know. But what about the people who do not have hoards of evil faeries at their command :D
Make noise in places like Sheffield forum in the hope that someone can make a bit more noise for you!
I dunno - that stinks tango. That really is the pits.

back2basics 08-01-2004, 11:54 Sorry to hear that, it's horrible, and you must feel very helpless.
But you have to see their point, a lawyer for the defence would just get them off. Even if they took fingerprints of your letter box that would not give them the evidence for a conviction, so it would be a waste of time. The police do have cameras they can give out so you can collect the evidence you need. I would keep pressing them for this, i would like to think that with kids in the house they would give you the tools to get the evidence needed.
If it is a dispute with a neighbour does anybody know if the council has mediators?
There are some seriously messed up people out there.
If it is a dispute, how can you mediate with someone that is prepaired to go to these lengths ?.
I know the Police are stretched, but I feel that more enquiries should have been made, now I will have to wait for the letter saying a crime could not be detected (as is the norm).
Im pretty sure a crime was detected,or maybe my understanding of crime is somewhat wrong.
Waiting for the next time,is not pleasant and trying to explain to a five year old what has happened is even less pleasant.
We certainly do live in sick times with sick people roaming the streets.
Perhaps we are now entering a period of devolution and we will all our generations to come will revert back to barbaric times.
tango2 while I understand that you are angry, please refrain from starting new threads about the same topic. I've done you a favour and split and merged two threads so you now have you very own thread concerning this incident. :)

Very helpfull many thanks
Well our local morons have done us proud, thurs night further to burning paper we recieved a whole housebrick through the bathroom window.
I am discusted that the council and Housing Association take such a light view on such matters.
Ive now been given a diary to keep and record events as and when they happen.
Surley burning paper and a whole housebrick equates to a threat on a persons life.
Last night my 8 yr old was sat watching tv,what if the brick had hit him,or our 4 yr old for that matter.
So after speaking to SYHA today we have to put up with it keep recording it and hope nobody dies in the meantime.while they start the red tape chain.
Its about time all the stupid red tape in this country was sorted out,and all these do gooders that bang on about rights should give it a rest.
Let the police steam in there and do there job, remember the old days if you got caught up to no good, bobby would give you a clip then take you home and you get another one.
Are thes not the very issues that the council keep banging on about sorting out,,,,,,,,,wel sort it then
Shame the Police into doing somthing - go to the Star and tell them what's happening
Sam Miguel 10-01-2004, 13:16 Or even better, go on the Radio Sheffield morning phone-in and express your disgust on there.
So how did this ever get resolved if at all?
goldenfleece 11-10-2005, 10:05 What area of Sheffield are we talking about here? Is this 'normal' for the area in question or a series of recently commenced activities in an area not known for this sort of mindless cretinism.
I wonder tango did the neighbourly thing, and 'returned' the housebrick?

The area in question was Longley

The issue was resolved by us moving, yes they won but We had to think about our kids.
We now live in peace with good neighbours and we dont even give these low lifes a second thought.
The only sad fact is that they are more than likely doing it to somebody else and still getting away with it.
As I understand it the whole block ended up moving in the end,,makes you wonder who has the rights these days, certainly not normal decent folk.
Does that mean your landlord had to rehouse you somewhere else at their expense or did you have to foot the bill for that as well?

2004 same crap, different year sorry to hear about this mate,my daughter was assaulted on the way home from school on friday, the police turned up saturday evening.as for syh, dont hold your breath,it took them twelve weeks to repair my boiler so that we could have hot water and heating,it broke the following day after the repair, the bloke who came next to mend it found a bucket full of water inside the gas tank, the wall its situated on faces west so it had been catching the rain through the air vent,he said it never needed new parts, just a rain cowling, two years later we are still waiting for one to be fitted.hope you catch the cowardly scum who tried to burn you out, always thought arson or attempted arson was a major issue for the police, appears not
I am so sorry to hear there is another social landlord with surly gits passing themselves off as maintenance staff. Dont know about yours but mine just published their impeccable track record with the Ombudsman. :D :D :D :D

We had to foot the bill as to be honest SYHA were not in the slightest bit interested.
However it was money well spent I can tell you,I do know they started on the new tennants when the moved in and again SYHA did naff all.
Im told that the said family have now gone to bless another area but their legacy lives on.
Why arent I in the least bit surprised. And you're telling me they didnt even issue the gits an ASBO?
