Hi ... I am trying to choose between Fitness First and Fitness Unlimited. I would have chosen Fitness First because someone told me they also let you rent DVDs along with your membership, at no extra cost.
Does anyone know how good their DVD collection is?
I have also heard that Fitness First has some joining fee, whereas Fitness Unlimited does not. Is this true?
I would appreciate any kind of advice regarding the better option amongst these two.
Yeah it does have a joining fee but it's generally only about £30 quid. There always seems to be an offer on...haggle on the monthly fee too!!
Seriously...haggle...tell them you've got a few more gyms to look at.
They always come up with a better offer!
DVD/Video Library not fantastic...all released about 12 mths before but still ok for nothing!
Hope this helps!

i used to be a member of fitness unlimited and used the hilsborough leisure centre even though i am opposite end of town, i would recommend it! infact i am off to re-register next week!
I am a fitness unlimited member and use hillsborough you dont pay a joining fee just your monthly subscription by direct debit (about £30 a month) then you can use they gym the pool and attend various fitness classes.
I've tried both in the past, if I were to get one now i'd go back to unlimited. The range of facilities is just much superior, especially the pool.
The dvd collection is pretty rubbish at first.
pick the one with the most fatties - they aren't so self obsessed & obnoxious.
Go with Fitness Unlimited, the money you pay goes to Sheffield International Venues which helps city sport. Fitness First will charge you £60-70 before you have even done your first workout, they disguise it in joining and administration fees.
