If you use aol have you encoutered this problem ? you recieve a pop-up from aol telling you to upgrade your modem and when you click on it and download the update it bugger's up your modem ? as it overwrite's your modem driver with an older version that is not compatible with your current modem it cost me £85 today for a guy to come out and fix it
Yeah, that happened to me. Can't believe you spent that much fixing it, though. I just uninstalled, and re-installed AOL (including drivers). Works wonderfully, now (well, as wonderfully as AOL is capable of, anyhow).
AOL?! :gag:
FFS why?! Just why?! When there are SO many MUCH better ISPs out there, Plusnet anyone?

I know this. Sadly, I live with my parents, and have no choice in the matter. I am in the process of trying to persuade them to switch ISP's.

I really don't get why people keep banging on about this (IMO) poor ISP.
Just 'cause the have offices in Sheff. doesn't mean they are any good?

Are you sure the "Pop Up" actually came from "AOL" and not by some remote PC using IP messenger to trick users into installing a corrupt driver?

You've been had:(.
As mentioned above by LaylaR, simply re-install the original AOL software again;).

You must be in the minority mate if you think they're poor, they've won awards for their service according to their web site.. And don't forget it's illegal to lie in advertising literature so it can't be false.

They were reasonable, they are now poor - I wrote three times to their Terry Street offices to put my complaint in writing, and not once did I receive a reply.
Blueyonder (cable), or Freedom 2 Surf (ADSL), or for a static IP go with NDO.

only problems I've had with aol have been either pc or laptop related. I guess it depends what you want to use it for.
