Play good (winning) foorball and you could easily get 26/7k+ but carry on like this season and it could drop quicker than a lady of the night's underwear

So 20,000, then?

I think they will average around 24,000 unless it all goes tits up.

If they have a lot more £10 games to bring in the stayaways, like the Palace game, they could comfortably average 25k (especially as they SHOULD be in or around the top 6!).

No, sorry mate, but you are wrong.
Given equal seasons - both finishing 8th (example)
UNITED 19,500
WEDNESDAY 17,000
Thoughts forumers ?

To be fair it will be interesting to compare the two crowds when were a league below especially with the unrest regarding players at United and the lack of success at the lane after relegation from the premiership.
Even though we have been relegated the fans will still come which happened last time, theres a nucleus of fans which come week in week out and if we do well never mind what league or club for the matter the fairweather fans always come when your doing well.
United don't get brilliant crowds when there flirting with the play offs in the Championship so i think it will be closer than some think me next season the ave Attendance stat.

Yep agree with that also, if its a run of the mill season the crowds could be dire.
Who knows yet no ones even signed anyone yet, so it makes me laugh how bookies can even quote a price on whos going to do what.

What unrest is this you talk of?

I think Wednesday will be looking at average crowds of about 18k/20k, Blades around the 23k/24k mark.

Its been a few years since Wednesday had higher average crowds than the Blades and i cannot see Yeovil on a Tuesday night at the Sty appealing to too many of the hardcore.

You had to flog half price tickets for your biggest match in 20yrs to ensure the ground was full, how many of those part timers who wheeled themselves out for the Palace match will be back?

What unrest with players?
Well god knows how many loan players you had last season and the amount of speculation of key players leaving also im sure my points valid ??
I find it very strange how a club like United have had so much money but invested so little in the thing that matters, (the squad).

if we are in the playoffs winning a few we should at least equal uniteds, so 24k ish i guess. depends who we bring in anyway

Loan players were a result of a huge injury list, i think you'll agree with me considering the amount of unrest in the squad last season Blackwell did a superb job steering us to an 8th place finish, just 5 points from the Play Offs.

Moving forward its been highlighted more perminant players are needed, however we're in talks with Morgan, Monty, Cresswell, Ward and Naysmith about new contracts. Hopefully something will be sorted for all and we can build on our finish to this season.

I think you'll be hard pushed to find a vastly superior team to the following;

Paddy
RB
CB
Morgan
Naysmith
Ward
Williamson
Monty
Yeates
Evans
Cresswell

I appreciate Sharp and Hendo might be off, if they generate £3.5m in transfer fees then happy days.

We'll add a few quality players to the above plus a few squad players.

I don't see any unrest movign forward into the 2010/11 season.

Lets not forget Wednesday who have just been relegated, are in risk of losing Grant and Tudgay, have mounting debts and have released 6 players have a massive re building job in the summer.

Well Wednesday are another story altogether, theres plenty of threads on that subject.
I just don't understand how United didn't have more backup than to have to rely on the loan market.
If you put it your way with a little more ambition from the chairman you may have pushed a play off spot, 5 points away from the play offs is close and must be annoying, when all is said and done its start all over again when you had a realistic opportunity to push on in January.
Just a note on Naysmith, i bet you a tenner he's injured again within ten games.

Just to digress a little, which club draw most support from outside Sheffield? ie. Rotherham, Barnsley, etc..etc.

To say there's been so much unrest with players, and being managed by Blackwell, a 8th placed finish is reason for optimism in my eyes.

The idea last season was quality over quantity. You've got to admit that Utd had some horrendous luck with injuries last season. Apparently United spent more than £3million in loan fees last year, they could have easily blooded a few youngsters but decided to invest a little.

Ambition - whats that then, surely the sales of Naughton, Walker and Killa in one season was our statement of intent?

Rumours fly around and idle gossip, one theory around the Lane (as it has been for a number of years) is the people in power see our strength as a top Championship side rather than a PL team. With the PL comes inflated wages, high expectations etc! i think its all idle talk but you do begin to wonder, do the Blades really want to be in the PL?

We did try to push on in January in all fairness, some of the players we signed, Yeates, Harper, Nosworthy, Kallio, Camara were all proven players and should have helped us puush on.

As for Naysmith, he had the same injury as Jagielka and he's had no adverse reaction so i don't see why Naysmith cannot complete a full season next year (if he signs a new contract). He'd be awfully unlucky to experience an injury ravaged season like he's experienced this season. I know you're not a betting man Corker :)

why would anyone ever be bothered about your AWAY attendance- thats typical wednesday- you need the fans at home- not away, all you do if you go away and not home is give the other teams in the division lots of lovely money they can use to strengthen there squads against you!!!
