I wouldn't approach this guy at all unless I had a flak jacket, a gun and several big blokes behind me!

I'd be happy to take my chances with just the gun :)

I'm a crack shot, me. I spent a month shooting oil drums when I visited my parents' village back in Yemen, several years ago.

Oh yes, the oil drums and tin cans used to quake in fear when I walked by :D

Never did shoot a moving target, tho... after a recent spate of accidental gun-related deaths and serious injuries over there, it's generally bad form to even point a weapon at another living creature, let alone use it for target practice.

But the oil drums... oh yes :heyhey:

Oh, I have my suspicions about many forum users... :suspect:

Far better for the pictures to be out in the open now, rather than having them come to haunt me when I eventually run for Leader of the Conservative Party in 2009/10 :D

Abdul, your avatar creates an image of a friendly family man.

But now the image of you grinning in your blue stripey top, wielding an AK, will stick with me forever.

So Abdul, which of your family owns an AK47 and a semi automatic pistol? or is there a local co-operative in the Yemen that rents these out on a daily basis like Blockbuster do DVD's over here?

ak47 (thugbuster) you could hire them out to people on thug ridden estates
a couple of evenings then all would be quiet again leaving the local bobby to sip his tea gently and enjoy the last summer evenings
or for the older generation perhaps a little friend to accompany them in their shopping trolleys a little walther pistol lol:D

Err... most of 'em ;)

... a country where the number of guns outnumbers the population by three-to-one...

Not really... you can buy them for the equivalent of a few hundred quid each, or join forces with the Communists (like the former South Yemen did) or join forces to fight the Communists (like the former North Yemen did - I expect they'll have M16s and Desert Eagles over the border :D )

Then you've got the Rub al Khali, or Empty Quarter, a huge expanse of desert and mountains, Bedouin tribes and villages to the East of the country where I'd expect any Al-Qaeda members in the country to be hiding:

It's a bit unfortunate that poor Middle East countries were fighting the Cold War by proxy, but that's global politics for you :|
