I noticed to day the long empty site on Ecclesall road at the junstion with Bruce Street, nr Coffee Revolution and Sine Electronics had a large 'drill' vehicle and lorry breaking up the ground.
I was just wondering whether anyone knew what was going to be built here, shops or bars are the obvious choice though my friends said they had heard a restaurant was on the cards.
I've heard it's going to be a Netto.

Does this look like it?
Demolition of social club and erection of A3 and A1 Units at ground floor level with 11 residential units over (509-523 Ecclesall Road)

I liked the sound of a Netto on Eccy Road that would have been funny, maybe with a Dixon over the top:thumbsup:
A drug rehab drop-in centre and needle exchange or asylum seekers clothing co-operative would have the locals foaming at the mouth.

There is a company called Subway that are big in America. I think it's time they started expanding this side of the pond...
Otherwise McD's is bound to be popular.
I wouldn't get too excited at the moment. It is most likely the oil company making good old underground tanks or the like.
Because it is still under a long lease to a AAA covenant it has proved especially difficult for anyone to extract it from the pension fund that owns it.
they'll be expensive flats ...probably sold like this....
'a very rare oppotunity to purchase a very exclusive duplex penthouse smartpad appartment complex direct, in a very sought after area, with access to hospitals/ universities / exclusive shops / bars / restaurants / trams etc rant rant
my version- another chance to buy an overpriced badly build piece of airspace with paper walls, cheap kitchens with gold coloured handles all round, (badly installed aswell), with a view to losing loads of money in the future, because new flats will keep being built and this flat will be outdated in 3 years.
Thanks for that healthy slice of cynicism djash :)
@cgksheff - no thats the old social club which is on the next block down, just before Nonnas.
Does anyone know who owns this land? It's STILL empty!

That sounds interesting, what does it mean? I always assumed there was some problem with it having been a petrol station.
OOps just noticed how old your post was!
