When my baby had his first injections they told me his head was larger than average but they didnt seem to concerned and said they would monitor him.... At my last visit to the health visitor she told me his head circumference had gone off scale and told me to see my gp.
His doctor has now referred him for brain scans (which he will have Tuesday 18th), they have not told me anything just that they are concerned his skull appears flat (square shaped) at the back. What can this be?? I am so scared and even more so because they wont tell me anything.

Don't panic, it could be nothing. For starters, the vast majority of babies have flat heads at the back these days, because we lie them on their backs to sleep, so that's a red herring.
Make it clear at the scan that you haven't been told anything, and ask what they are looking for. Good luck x
Edit to add: for a quicker response, you could call your GP surgery or your Health Visitor and ask for a phone consult. Make it clear that you need to know exactly why your child has been referred, and that you were too upset to ask at the time.

Hmm they generally wont speak over the phone doctor patient confidentiality they dont know if they are talking to Mr or Mrs (name) because it could be anyone talking.
I hope the scan goes ok, my stepbrothers head was a bit flat at back so wouldnt worry bout that, i've got a bit of flat head too ;)

Most GP surgeries will give you a phone consult, yes. Keeps you from blocking up the surgery.

I have got to go and see his gp tomorrow as they wont give information over the phone. I probably should have asked when they referred him but i was in shock by it all and didnt know what to think. Thanks all :)

Just wanted to say, big hugs to your little man, I am sure it is just another of those things that happens to test your nerves. I hope all is ok.
