View Full Version : Sony PSP- anyone got one?
Has anyone got a Sony PSP?
I'm looking into getting one this week hopefully so I would like to know if anyone has one and what their opinions are of it if you please.
Also- if anyone knows this as well- where is the cheapest place to get your memory sticks from for the PSP... over 1gb sticks would be nice if possible.
Cheers :)
For memory sticks, try somewhere like Dabs.com or Ebuyer.com.. As for the PSP, I don't think I'll get one to be honest, I don't really have the money to pay £180 for a handheld brick.. I know that sounds fanboyish but I've always had a dislike for Sony consoles, too many idiots amongst the Sony fanbase as well, who will swear blind that Tekken etc > Dead or Alive etc and until recently their precious Grand Theft Auto franchise was PS2 exclusive which they would crow about, it wouldn't be so bad if the GTA games were actually any cop, but they're not.

Someone sounds like a disgruntled Xbox owner, with just 3 good games to play :)

alchresearch 05-09-2005, 12:16 I'm thinking of getting one, but mainly for the fact it will play DivX as well as the games.
spyro2000 05-09-2005, 12:21 The PSP may be good, but whats the point in spending all that money on something thats used for long journeys. :loopy:
Id rather buy a game boy for a fiver and play tetris.
Lickable 05-09-2005, 13:15 I got mine for £137. Its excellent.
Game is doing 1gb memory cards for under £100. Cant rmember what price exactly.
Can't wait to work out how to get it online.

I still dont get it. If your using it in the house then wouldnt you prefer to just use a Playstation 2?
Lickable 05-09-2005, 13:29 And turn the GF's tv off to connect it up?
Besides these long journeys are quite frequent, as all mine and my GF's family live in other towns and cities.
Anyway, with skype, it will be soon a free mobile network.

Are you alright rich mate?
I'm still in two minds whether to get one or not.. I'd deffo need the biggest card going because of all the stuff I could slap onto it.
£80 for a 1gb card dosent sound bad though- might have to look into it more tmrw :)

Going online- I've heard rumours its summat to do with a Wipeout Pure browser or something.. I'll dig a little deeper and find out more for you!!
Beakerzoid 05-09-2005, 19:28 Good prices for sticks at http://www.onlinememory.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=80_95&products_id=193&zenid=e1a8e13fa79421d00d5c7a6ca50c8e77
I got mine on release day, with Wipeout Pure. Ideal for the journey to and from work on bus and tram each day (45 mins each way). Gonna use it for a lot of movie/TV show watching whilst on the move too.
A great unit with so much potential.
Would love one, and my heart keeps telling me to get one.. but then this (annoying) voice in my head (a.k.a. common sense) keeps pointing out that I own a PS2, live alone (so no GF to annoy when I want to turn off the TV to play on it) and dont travel very often, so would have very little/no need for it...
...doesn't stop me wanting one though!
The connectivity to the PS3 when that comes next year should be very interesting if done well - should add an extra dimension to both the PSP and PS3.
Damn you Angelus - might have to go get one now!! :heyhey:

Not found it painful on the eyes at all, and ploughed through GTA to and from work with no problems. I never get distracted by other people when travelling, so just block them out when playing games / watching episodes of TV shows / reading a book etc.
