Might help, if you telled us some more about yourself, for example what you feel your strengths are, even tho it may sound cliche what are your key skills.

I have a mate who runs a contract labour business in Sheffield, PM me when you've got your CV sorted out and I'll email it to him (he's a really nice bloke).

When writing a personal statement; imagine I meet your best mate in your local and ask him what he thinks about you. Write it down and then read it out aloud to yourself. If it sounds right, it will read right.

Although you are not applying for an office job; get the spelling right...remember your job is about attention to detail so make sure that comes across in your CV.

All the best.

My son works with contractors for Gas Alliance - see if you can find out who's contracting in Sheffield. Shame you dont live where we do as the guy who runs the sub contract company my son works for uses all local lads.

The pay is good, though very long hours, and there is opportunity to do your Gas Safe thingy if after a couple of years you proved your worth. They take on good, very hard working, reliable lads who have no experience but plenty common sense and willing to get stuck in and learn the ropes. I know it's not building work as such, but there is plenty of work in it since this is long term contracted work which has been in the pipeline a while (pardon the pun) and National Grid oversee the work - you must surely drive past it once a day somewhere on the roads!

My son's pay was about £15k on starting about 20 months ago, but he hides his payslip from me now :D:D

Just write a short paragraph about you - don't make it try to sound any different to who you are! You've near enough said it above - just change the language a bit. (also, don't do capitals at start of each word!). I'll take a look at your cv - my best advice is do an honest one - don't elaborate just be you!
