Pure genius, far better than the outsourced, computer-interpreted linked block-drawings of today, many of which still use their original ideas, though nowhere near as effectively. Cartoon animation in the 30's & 40's needed many man-hours to create and the end-result was generally far superior to todays jerky, mechanical efforts. Many of todays cartoons are funny to watch, admitted but the hand-built ones of yesteryear were both amusing and beautiful to behold. The early Disney ones come close but don't beat the Harmon-Ising creations... I saw the one where Peter fights the chicken but I;d never seen the episode int he first series when it first happens so I just thought it was a regular bout of randomness. It still made me laugh so much I cried, and the second time was even better!
