Hi

I'm on the market for a printer, just a bog standard one, dosent have to be anything fancy.

Just wanting to know if anyone can recommend a particular make that is cheap to run with ink refills. Does anyone know of any offers anywhere where I can get a decent one from?

Thanks

Don't get a lexmark or HP, expensive ink

Buy a canon IP1500 or similar

Or

An epson C66 or similar (not a c46 tho as these are slow and poor quality)

We stock them both over here at Very PC

I seem to be treating printers as disposable at the moment. You can always get one for less than the price of 2 new cartidges - my last one was 24 quid including a black and colour cartridge. When they run out I'll probably buy a new printer.

I was just asking myself the same question today.

I need a colour printer that will be a bit of a workhorse for me and will produce decent enough pictures (quality wise).

Also can anyone tell me if it is much more expensive to buy a printer that does A3 and A2 sizes?

Can you get ones that print that big???

We have a C46 cost £30 cheap cartridges and does the job for us!

I don't find it slow or poor quality!

If you are looking for a 'bog standard' printer and don't wish to spend in excess of £60 I would recommend it!

How much are the ink cartridges for the c46? Also do you know whether you get a cartridge with the printer to start of with?

oh and you get a black and colour cartridge with it but they are not meant to last as long as usuall...just a sampler cartridge.

Thanks mtheo.
Just another question if you dont mind.

How easy are they to install, never done one myself. Is it a case of plug it in and away you go or isnt it as simple as that?
Also 69p for a cartridge!!! I thought they were pounds not pence.

they are pounds not pence if you go into crappy places like dixons, currys etc and buy proper epson cartridges. this site offers compatible ones at a fraction of the price and they are lasting quite well!!

easy to set up, unpack, power to socket, usb lead from printer to computer (will be the only lead you have to mess with...just bung it where it fits) you may have to pull sum sticky tape off bits of the printer that have been put there to keep it in place while being moved about.

shud be easy enough :)

Just yesterday I purchased an epson r300 photo printer, the quality is amazing, my images are coming out sharp, crisp and the colours are spot on. It takes 6 ink cartridges, one for each colour plus light cyan and light magenta, this helps the economics as you only replace a cartridge when it's empty rather than on printers that have one colour cartridge, in that case one colour may be empty so you have to replace the cartridge even though the other colours still have ink. The compatible cartridges are about £4 for all 6.

I highly recommend this printer, super easy to setup, epsons usually are the best for cheap cartridges...

Yes you can. A3 HP1200 series (plenty on ebay) are reputedly good, dunno about the A2 sized ones, but have a nose about on the HP website

I've got a Lexmark 1100 and it does what i want it to do. The cartridges are more expensive than some other printers but they're not the most expensive and I find that cartridge World can refill them and I've never had any problems. I think a re=fill was £11

The r200 & r300 are both great (essentially the same model, the 300 having a few little extras ;)).
