"If you play with it too much you'll go blind"

Where did that come from? Any origins or ideas why such a ridiculous thing would be said? There are cariations such as "If you play with it too much it will fall off" and "Playing with it will make it smaller."

they are wives tales told to little boys by their mothers. Mothers usually tell their young sons (and sometimes the older ones) as little boys have a tendancy to play with it in public! :P

just be careful Dragon ... just cos it didn't happen the first few thousand times ... doesn't mean it never could ...

The simple answer is to get someone else to play with it, then you get the pleasure and they go blind.
