Many thanks. wendy mandy25 04-09-2005, 05:40 there's loads of sites where you can do this, the one I used to use is www.hotspot.co.uk wendygs 04-09-2005, 05:51 Hi Mandy Thanks but they require me to have a mobile phone and provider but I dont have either so cant fill in their online form. Are there any other providers which will accept a landline. mandy25 04-09-2005, 05:54 I have a friend who sends his txts via yahoo, i don't know how to do it and I think its costs as well wendygs 04-09-2005, 05:54 OK thanks, I'll look in to that. wendy Pseudonym 04-09-2005, 06:54 I've just sent a successful test message to my own mobile using... http://www.cbfsms.com/ Send from pc, no registration needed... You may like to experiment with it? :) wendygs 04-09-2005, 06:58 Thanks pseudonym, I'll give that a try because I've since been on tothe Yahoo site and couldnt find anything and at £3.50 it's a bit OTT when a call only costs 20p or whatever. All of my searches have come to nowt. wendygs 04-09-2005, 07:10 Hi Pseudonym. That's done the job brilliantly. As you can appreciate I dont think most people would take too kindly to that early morning alarm call on a Sunday morning. So that went down a treat. Mega thanks. wendy ;) Pseudonym 04-09-2005, 07:27 No Problem, Wendy... Glad you found it did the job ok... :) wendygs 04-09-2005, 07:28 I've bookmarked it for future reference. Grateful thanks. Thank you both for letting me know that I've created at least two Happy Bunnies! :) All too many people on various forums that I've given useful information to that was requested in the past, haven't even bothered to say 'thanks'... After a while, you begin to think "Why bother?" It's good to see that the SF is different! matsalleh 04-09-2005, 16:27 Originally posted by Pseudonym Wendy, Matsalleh... It's a pleasure after all I believe Sheffield is the top computer centre in the country and I get all this info free. After a while, you begin to think "Why bother?" It's good to see that the SF is different! Hi Pseudonym Although I dont know about Sheffield being the top computer centre in the country, I do believe the very little magic words "Please" and "Thank you" go a very long way to create peace. I am also very sorry you've had such poor experiences of other Forums; you're not alone. Although I've encountered the odd pratt on SF, my overall feeling so far is the people are genuine, helpful and friendly. wendygs 02-02-2006, 10:00 I've just discovered www.b4u.co.uk also do free text messages and their process is just sooooooooo much easier than http://www.cbfsms.com. All they require is a simple registration process and your real mobile phone number. As mine was either lost or stolen a couple of years ago, I'm using that and hope the people who've now got it get swamped with junk. |
