A judge described this guy as an essentially honest upright citizen - and then jailed him for five years.

Honest upright geezer gets jailed for turning home into Fort Crackhouse (http://www.sheffieldtoday.net/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=58&ArticleID=1134299)

Was the judge taking the p**s? Or did he really regret sentencing this hoodwinker to a measly 5 years. He''ll be out in 2, probably, and be rehomed somewhere near you...

Why is it so easy to pull the wool over judges' eyes?

Do honest upright citizens borrow money from drug dealers?

Do honest upright citizens turn their three bedroomed homes into fortresses with high steel fences and iron doors and bull mastiffs and then stache class-A drugs and rifles and illicit cash?

Do honest upright citizens withstand police interrogations, probably for days on end, and still manage not to shop no-one?

The answer is, probably not.

However, what if he owned the house and couldn't just flee along with his family. He'd be ruined, wouldn't he, if he abandoned his home to thugs and vandals? After all, this is the Manor, isn't it?

It's just that there seems to be a lot of these crackhouse closures reported in the press lately. And in many instances the property owner or tenant is reported to be an unwilling participant in the crime, or a former 'honest upright citizen' fallen on hard times. Yeah, well I've fallen on hard times, too. But I'd eat grass and live in a hole in the ground before I'd sell my honour to drug dealers and their like.
