I'm new to Sheffield - was wondering where the friendly rock places were around here? Used to have a few where I lived before, and am really missing the good nights out!

Eccleshall Road would be good... *think* thats fairly local, though still getting to know the place!

Is there a big rock community in Sheffield? Which are the best nights to go out on?

there is CRB at the bottom of eccesall rd, and corporations not far either. best night is monday at corp, give me a PM and I'll give you directions etc.

if you like more of the classic rock - guns N roses,led zep,zz top,whitesnake etc. then Corp on a saturday night is great , casbah on a friday is a brilliant night out as is corp on a monday-if you dont have to get up early the next day-50p shot+mixer all night! i would avoid corp on friday nights(others might want to coment on this) but it tends to play more r&b than rock.

Corp on a friday is gettin worse every week, some the music can be classed as pop for 10 year old girls...
And i think it opens at 9:30 on mondays (£1 entry before 10, £3 after that)

Yeah, Corp used to be great a few years ago. I moved away for a few years and only just returned. It was pretty disapointing to go back, to be honest. Does anyone still go to the Tut/dove and rainbow? (showing my age there).
Dev Cat seems to be the new hangout, which is fine since it's a cool pub...but I really have no idea where else to now. Somewhere down Eccie road would be cool as I'm about to move there. any more suggestions?

corp opens 9.30pm on Monday, I suggest a good pub to meet in is the Devonshire Cat as it has good beer and is close. I'm usually there between 8 and 9.

I'm the landlady of the Classic Rock Bar on Ecclesall Road. It's just about opposite Safeway. Many people meet at my pub before walking to the Corp (its only 5 mins away). You're very welcome to call in.

I'm 22. Yes there is an amount of kids especiallay on fridays but generally I tend to ignore them.
Oh and ask for ID before you pull!

Sort of...ish. Incy wincy bit. You can't blame me though, this thread is dedicated to rock music and I've a feeling that not all the contributors have been along to the CRB yet to hear the rock we play.

We're up in front of the licensing committee on Thurs next week so 'hopefully' we'll have the live rock bands back on again by the weekend.

I'm sure they'll visit. It was mentioned last week on Monday at the dev cat as a good place to go.

sadly the classic rock bar is no longer.
live rock band this friday 1st oct at old blue ball, hillsborough.
regular rock and prog rock bands at the boardwalk, snig hill. (see notices outside pub or on forum "nights out" guide.
rock disco is on fridays at the sportsman on cambridge street with mad muzz. (4pm til close)!!
or...you can sing your own rock classics on my karaoke every friday and sunday at arbourthorne hotel, errington road.
or... buffy's karaoke at the moorfoot tavern, bottom of the moor. every saturday. with top guest rocker, toastie and friends!

It has changed your right. That is why i did a post. I went out to West St live on Tuesday and watched a few bands. Headlined by Soul Shredder. They were good. Just waiting now for the Sabaton gig on 16/10 at the Corp. Was really looking for a filler between then and see if people realise how little venues for Rock we have in Sheffield now.

Yep, and there is a competition running for the next 6 weeks - the winner gets a cash prize and also gets to sing as a support act in blackpool...theres also a cash prize for each sundays winner as well...

The standard last night was amazing, it took the 3 judges some time to make their minds up....
