Maxxy 04-05-2010, 21:02 I like the first one, but just needs tweaking a bit to bring the white up. As you can see, I'm a learner :) terrorfirma 04-05-2010, 21:06 Your not to blame, if i'm right its the cameras metering system that tends to make snow look grey, so you either have to over expose the shot or tweak it on the PC. terrorfirma 04-05-2010, 21:12 http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4033/4579610372_7f6ce7da97_o.jpg This is your shot but tweaked to bring the white up a bit. Maxxy 04-05-2010, 21:13 What software have you done that with? I know there are a few open source programmes about but I've not found anything that does much with pics yet. terrorfirma 04-05-2010, 21:15 I have a very good friend in the computer business who gave me a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS4. Maxxy 04-05-2010, 21:16 I have a very good friend in the computer business who gave me a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS4. ahh. I need to chose my friends more carefully :hihi: #James# 06-05-2010, 12:22 You can try GIMP, its probably the best free photo editor. http://www.gimp.org/ When your camera meters it takes a reading of the highlights (such as sky) and shadows in the image and exposes for a middle gray to capture as much detail as possible across the range. It cant tell its snow and reads it as a highlight, like sky, so it brings everything right down to give the widest range possible from dark to light. If you want to avoid that, exposure compensating about 2 stops lower in snow should do it! |
