Myself and my partner have a little girl who is 20 months old. We would like another child but due to complications when my partner gave birth we are unable to have another baby naturally.
We are considering trying to adopt and would like to adopt a child younger than our daughter.
Does anyone have any experience of this or advice on how likely we are to be succesful in trying?
I am 30 and my partner is 34.
Thanks.

I don't have any experience but I wish you luck x
Hi best thing would be to give Sheffield adoption team a ring - they will send you an information pack in post or come to have a chat with you at home if you prefer. Would also recommend you visit the Adoption Uk website to chat to other people in the same situation. Hope that helps :)

Thanks for posting. Its a big help. Thankyou for your advice.
Why not try the Adoption UK website too for advice and information? You might want to think about organisations like Coram or the like rather than just local authority adoption services.

Hi we adopter DS 2years ago, we went throught the local authority & adoption Uk is a great place to get lots of information.
the best thing to do is do plenty of research, there are some great books that you can get from the libary & lots on the internet as mummysaz21 even young children can have alot of issues, (why love matters is a great book).
it took us over 3 years & we know friends that it has taken longer but i know people that it only took just over a year, its something that you cant really put a timescale on as its all about finding the right family for a child.
hope this helps.x

I think it is quite a difficult process with lots of checks and interviews you have to go through and it can can take a long time.
But I wish you the best of luck.
