Hello all, does anyone know of any local finance companies that are sympathetic towards people with a less than perfect credit history?

It is very difficult to answer your question because the general manner in which it is posed does not offer sufficient background to provide a meaningful reply. Much depends on the background information and it would be unwise for anyone to do more than provide a generic reply.

In general terms, however, no finance companies in Sheffield, nationally or internationally will be "sympathetic to people with a less than perfect credit history".

What it means is that you can expect finance companies to charge high interest levels for bearing the risk of offering credit to people who they have assessed as being a high risk.

For people in your position I would carefully evaluate all of the risks involved in taking out the loan and if it could be acquired by other methods. If your adverse credit history is more than 6 years the data should be expunged from your credit file and you can expect CCJs to be deleted from County Court Judgment's registry.
