Well if it is sad then I am sad too. Something like that can often make my day if I am honest. LOL.

no course its not - its an ego boost, it makes you feel good - whats wrong with that!

You feel as pleased as you like!

I have seen this happen before and there seems to be two ways the situation can go.

1) The guy doing the whistling or saying some comment is good looking and the woman or girl smiles to herself and takes it as a compliment.

2) The guy doing the whistling or saying some comment is fat and ugly and the woman or girl makes a remark about how he is a sexist pig and looks at him like he's a skid-mark on a hotel towel!

Enjoy it ladies and take it as a compliment, no matter what the whistler looks like...

There'll come a time when you can be certain that the whistle isn't aimed at you, make the most of it while you can!:)

Start worring when the whistler has no teeth left to do a good whistle :heyhey: :

i'm in full support here, more than once i have felt like telling someone how nice they look or smell, but daren't just in case they pull out the can of mace.

i think its the way its done and how close they are to you that determines the response.

for example. A whilstle and a wave from a builder high above the road on some scaffoling - nice, non threatening and makes a girl smile.

versus.

A whistle/comment from someone just in front of you - a little threatening because you don;t know quite what they might do next.

Will my opinion anyway :)

A girl I know hates this though because they would be flattered if they thought they didn't do it to every woman, but builders have no standards and whistle and shout crudities regardless of context, dress or appearance.

Still I never get whistled at, except by American gay men  (I wasn't worried until it became a recurring thing)

Aye, what he said :D I would think it was a compliment if they had standards, but lets be honest, they whistle at anything, it does my nut in.

Ooh, I can tell you a story (none of you have heard this before :D ) once I was walking past uni, wearing a long winter coat and a scarf (erm and trousers) and still a builder felt the need to shout 'nice t*ts' (do I have to censor that?!) anyway, like he could tell. Point proven

That's not always true, I have a friend who is small, pretty and probably the most ardent feminist you could ever meet. I've been with her when some builder has made the fatal mistake of saying something cheeky and she made the mistake of turning round and telling him to grow up,he like most other builders just loved this and laughed, he stopped laughing when she picked up a short section of scaffolding pole and started attacking one of the uprights on which he was standing.
The complete oppisite to this was another friend who is a lesbian, she knows that guys find her attractive and if she get's whistled at or as is more often a comment about her ample charms she's been known to walk back the same way a few minutes later with a certain swagger and maybe a further button undone

When I hear a wolf whistle ( which is as rare as pink grass) then I walk and look around to assertain if there's a slim blonde beauty within a two mile radius and calmly walk on regardless. The day I get a genuine wolf-whistle I will run around the Peace Gardens wearing a toga and a g-string! It is degrading and I'd rather have a wink or a smile from a 'workman' than a whistle.:heyhey:

That's it then, a wink & a smile is the new wolf whistle!

Wish someone would have told me a few years ago

I got someone wolf whistle at me the other day. Had to be me cos there was no-one else around who it could have been aimed at. Nearly wet myself laughing. Seems there are lasses out there who like taking the waste water.

But it gave me a laugh so I suppose it was better than nothing.
Cheeky so and so's.
