I have been with tesco for 9 months now, but I do pay a lot for my insurance.
I have found quotes right now that are so much cheaper that what I'm paying now! Basically if I cancelled my policy with tesco:

1) I have got no no claims discount so would I lose 9 months worth of no claims?

2) any other penalties etc??

Or am I just better with sticking with teco for another 3 months until my renewal date then changing insurer? Is cancelling a policy at renewal time easy?

Thanks!!!!!!!

Stay with them for 3 months and get that no claims. You'd also have cancellation charges to pay if you left.

Im with tesco too and they said cant cancel before the year is up.

I turn 21 next week and so hopef was thinking they would lower policy price. They said that wont change until March when its up for renewal though!

However at least my excess goes down from £400 to £200!!

Yippeeeee!!

Ugh Tesco are a big rip off.. My car insurance is about £550.. my car was broken into last year and due to the damage the ..er.. thieves did to the car, I had to claim.. this year they wanted £800+, stupid!!! Ive been driving for nearly 9 years too! I went with Diamond who do a ten month no claims for the first 'year', which I have now got... It is only for women though i think.. it was the same price as my previous year with Tesco (although this is only over ten months i will benefit from the no claims discount this year!). I know this doesn't really answer the question I just wanted to get it off my chest, cheers!!

I've used confused too - but have always stuck with the AA - I have 9 speeding points (don't ask) and only 1 years no claims, as I have had 2 crashes (neither my fault) and one buglary and am only 26 and this year they dropped it from £900 to £475 which impressed me greatly!

I would like to add I am NOT a girl racer or at all reckless - feel safe driving around sheffield with me on the road.

I always get quotes from most of the different companies each year and the supermarket quotes (ie Tesco/Asda etc) are always about 3 or 4 times what I eventually pay.

This year I took out a policy with MoreThan and it was just under £150, whereas my quote from Tesco was around £500.

Have a look at this (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55893&highlight=tesco+car+insurance) thread from a few weeks ago!!

Stay with them, get your years no claims, then bail it!! But if you need to make a claim in that time you're screwed... :)

No, a car. But I have full no claims as I haven't had accidents and I keep to the speed limit etc

1,000 miles a year - that's virtually nothing? Or 10,000 - which is more like it.

What Peugeot is it? 206, 307?

:)

1000 - no wonder it's so cheap. I wish I only drove that, I do that every fortnight.
