Hey all. I just registered on here and I was just looking around the site etc getting to know whats what. Anyway enough with the babble heres what I wanted to ask. I recently foreyed into the world of performing for audiences at discos and parties and night outs etc. Everytime a Michael Jackson record is played I manage to stop everyone dead in their tracks on the dancefloor and drawing huge crouds of people who just stand gob smacked at what I'm doing, who come watch me dance. I keep getting told that I should maybe take it up as a career i.e. impersonating or dancing (Both MJ style) on stage etc but as a proper job. Thats what many people have told me to do including a former Sheffield musician who played in the BBC orchestra when he was younger, knows his music and that. Just wondered if anyone had any advice or could point me in the right direction as to where to go in Sheffield to follow up the above points. Thanks for reading

Chris

If you're as good as the people say you are then i think you should get out of sheffield, its not the right place to take your ideas to the next level. Try London.

Recent events have kinda pigeonholed MJ into a bit of a 'has been' I cannot see his career ever recovering to the heights of success he enjoyed in the 80's...well certainly not in the UK!

On that note I would suggest contacting clubs etc that are either themed on 80's or have 80's nights to see if you can secure a performance.

I am sure if your 'party piece' goes down well it could certainly lead to a new career!

Good Luck
:D

Michael jacksons sales have rocketed since the publicity from the trial, plus high profile celebrities [most obviously Justin Timberlake] openly state him as an idol for them, so the label of 'has-been' isn't exactly fair.

I'd say he's the biggest he's been since the eighties, even through all the trouble he's been in.

Reckon that deserves encouragement for the dancing guy. Go for it love.

[i'm aware i come across as a bit of a MJ fanatic. Which worries me. Never been a big fan. Just don't wanna see stigma attached to him, or discouragement for the original poster]

Thanks luvvy. I dunno but it's just something people keep telling me and since I also got the bit of attention and advice of a former music pro, I just think it's something to really go for.
