Trying to remember the name of a US based site that was one of the early and pioneering "web communities" where everyone had a 'house' in a 'suburb' with fancy names like SOUTH PARK, etc, and each suburb of the community had a 'theme' ie poetry and meditation, rock, sports, etc. You gotr a front page, and pages about you, biography, profile, etc, and links to other "friends" on your "block".

.....desperatly trying to remember the name of the site as it was MASSIVE around 1995/6 in the USA, when every kid in the STates HAD to have their own web community space....and no one over here did. What was its name???

kind of inspired things like MSN and Yahoo groups, etc but much more graphic and interactive....

I think it is Geocities - they also had districts for people wanting to do techie stuff and so on.

I think it was bought up by Yahoo?

It wasn't Avaterra's VZones community was it?

I remember dabbling around the mid 90s when Demon customers were given a free account.

It's still going strong.
