Hi, first time poster here

I currently live in the Midlands but I’ve just been offered a job in Sheffield and need to find a place to rent for six months to a year while I decide on something long term. A lot of posters recommend the Hillsborough area, and I think that’s on the tram route, which is handy for me as I don’t have my own transport. I need an unfurnished home, as I’ve got my own furniture (and though ideally I want somewhere slightly bigger than my current place, my family are dying to offload their excess stuff onto me).

Could you give me a rough idea of what I should be paying for an unfurnished rental property in Hillsborough? Or prices in any other areas which are good for public transport but not too noisy? Am preferably looking for a two-bedroom house, or two-bedroom flat if they’re significantly cheaper to rent. I know I get some kind of relocation package but I’m not expecting anything particularly generous.

Hope you can help!

400-550 is what you would pay in hillsborough/walkley as far as I can tell.

There are very few 2 bedroom houses around, 2 bed places all seem to be flats, but you can get a 3 bed (well 2 decent sized bedrooms & a room varying between a shoebox to something you could put a single bed in) house for no more than it'd cost you for a 2 bed flat, plus you're likely to get a garden and stuff. Hillsborough can be anything upwards of £400, it's fairly cheap and quite a good place to live.
