I would love to have fish and chips every friday, but i don't wonna be a fatty, must eat healthly.

Also do you call it fish and chips even when you don't have fish and chips?

eg. if anyone asks what you want to eat, i'd say fish and chips! Then when they ask what i want i'd say chips and a sausage!!!

wierd!!

Friday is the day for them, that's for sure!

Ideally, they should be consumed while watching 'The Good Life' followed by 'Pot Black'.

And the year should be about 1975.

The grub to be collected in a blue Renault 4 from the chip shop at Banner Cross.

Yum.

Not really I don't have them every week when I do have them its when I can't be bothered to cook anything or if there is nothing in. If I was to say a specific day for the chippy it would Saturday before the football but I don't have them every week.

Is it a tradition stemming from when we all used to be catholics?

It is most definately a Catholic thing, but I aint never been no Catholic though!

Though, as Eddie Izzard said, "Protestants are just the same as Catholics, but with morals"

P.S. Not wishing to start heated debate on any type of sectarian issues :suspect:

And it's got to have red sauce & a few rounds of white bread & butter.

Washed down with a mug of sweet tea or ice cold milk.

MMmmmmmm!

Its not a Catholic thing, read your bible. Fish was served at the Last Supper, which was of course a Friday. Hence we should eat fish on Good Friday and any other Friday if we so choose.

Don't have a chippy every Friday, although while I as at uni me a couple of mates did develop our own tradition for a while of getting takeaway pizza every day that ends in "d - a - y" :heyhey:

I read it in my bible and its a catholic one?! another puzzle is that if Christ died on a friday then wouldn't the last supper have been on a thursday night?...and I thought they ate lamb!?

If I have fish and chips, there's one other thing I have to have as well.

That's white bread and butter to have a chip butty with. There's something about chip fat and butter, with white bread, that makes it so yummy.

BTW, I never eat whaite bread with anything else!

Where's Greystones Fish and Chips?

At the moment I'm into one at Banner Cross.

In fact, tonight, I went there for just chips.

See, we had home-made chicken korma (low fat stuff) with chip-shop chips.

Absolutely delicious!

It's off one of the side streets opposite Banner Cross Pub - can't remember the name of the road though - superb fish and chips and huge portions too...fish and chips twice with 2 battered sausages does all the family and still some chips end up uneaten and in the bin!!

:D
