I can't help but have a bit of credit and respect for the 38k Wednesday fans turning out to pack Hillsborough on Sunday, I mean I'd understand if it was a game that could get them in the play-offs or something like that, but at the other end of the table with the potential to be a game the won't want to remember for obvious reasons etc, and what with it being one of the twitchy bum games that are horrible to see on TV never mind in person......

If the fans do really make the third man then Wednesday obviously have a massive advantage, and i'm sure they will sing make the atmosphere a very unpleasant one for the visitting mob......

Well anyway I guess you all know what i'm trying to say, and this is'nt a criticism in the slightest, fair play to em in this case..........

Where'd you get the 38k Wednesday fans from? The final sales are 36K and we've sold 6K of those.
Plus Wednesday only had to pay a tenner, or fiver for kids.

I suspect if it had been on tv all season they would not have sold out.
I have respect for the solid 18-19,000 who have stuck there through thick and thin.
The rest I have no time for.

No punchline what so ever, In the true spirit of football and all that I actually have to say fair do's and put bias rivalry aside and simply congratulate the fans for turning out....

Ok it does have it's bearing factors eg Being advertised as televised late on, and cheaper tickets and ok it might be the last game of the season, However it's a massive match for the wrong reasons and overall is'nt a comfortable match to sit and watch, therefore you have to sit back and say fair play when it sells out.......No punchline, genuine respect....

Wouldn't the fans make the 12th man not the 3rd :huh::huh:

I'm annoyed at the Safety Advisory Group for not allowing us to use the corner stand.....We've used it this season. United and Sunderland have used it in recent seasons. We didn't need it for segregation when we played United, nevermind Palace. I believe the police should reduce their costs, what with us losing out on gate receipts.

Think final sales are closer to 37k. We've roped off seats in Leppings lane...which annoys me, as you could have had few hundred more tickets...more lost income. We did this with United as well...I just don't understand the thinking behind it.

Why didn't we just give Palace the bottom end of the Lepp and make it even worse for them atmosphere wise, or does there need to be a certain amount we have to allocate them?

The ground is falling down, safty issues are costing the club extra income. Shame that building work promised last year did not kick in !

To be fair though, didn't the club do that themselves with £10 tickets for what has looked likely to be a huge game for quite a while? You can't go slashing prices and then blame the police for enforcing what they think is needed, in what could well be a volatile situation, with one set of fans likely to be less than happy at the end!

Credit due to the 20k or so loyal supporters/sufferers, as mentioned before :)

Yep but Mc Cabe openly commented its on hold until our return to a higher level, and touched up on it was part of the World cup preparations. ;0

It does not need replacing it is not in state of repair so no need to spend on it.

As for S6 their stadia has cost them revenue in recent weeks, as it is in a right old state..

Your kop is terrible and has needed redevelopment ever since it was erected, even Blades fans have said on here how it was thrown up on a bit of locally delivered concrete?
Wasn't it a quick job for a better future development?

Wednesdayites would have got the bottom of the Lepp, but we hadn't sold many tickets untill after the Palace v West Brom game, so we couldn't wait, when Palace wanted another batch.

That isn't the point. Other clubs only need a line of stewarding....and a few seats cordoned off, I've been to many Manchester Derbys and that is all they have. Yet at Hillsborough, we appear to need a whole corner...it's a joke. It's structurally safe..so there isn't an issue.

The police and/or the club obviously feel the need for this, otherwise it wouldn't have been done presumably? Is it the legendary dole corner that's shut?

The potential for trouble on Sunday is much higher than usual, and to have a buffer area is understandable. It's not like you've needed the seats for the rest of the season is it, and as it's on live tv, it's not like the remaining bandwagon jumpers will miss the game.

As for the money, that's not an issue at all, as the club are happy to throw away thousands of pounds on cheap tickets, so obviously didn't expect anywhere near a full house.

Derby games across the country only require a line of stewarding and a bit of netting, why is Hillsborough different?. It does not make sense. There was a waiting list for the corner stand for this game, after the rest sold out. The SAG's comment about the extra fans will affect the local community is utter garbage as well. Why allow for the Stadium to be extended for the World Cup if extra fans will cause trouble for the local community. They're just pathetic excuses.

Certainly right about the World Cup comment if that's the reason they gave - presumably lots of extra traffic and parking on top of what's already there is what they're getting at for Sunday?

Maybe it's the thought of another few hundred people that haven't been to Hillsborough since 1993 struggling to find their way round the ground... :)

As some owls have already pointed out though, if these fans decided to wait until after Monday night to decide if they were going to the game, then they're no great loss - it's not like this 'waiting list' would've been there otherwise, just part-timers for the most part, and more likely to add more tension if you're not 3-0 up after 10 minutes!

Anyway back on topic, credit to the diehard fans at both Sheffield clubs this season, for following their clubs in good numbers while our teams have let their fans down.

Not being from Sheffield originally, I've only been to half a dozen or so games. I guess I shouldn't have bothered if only 20k regulars count. Makes you wonder why they have so many seats at Hillsborough if they only want 20k fans.

yea, i though they would of done that anyway, it's a terrible stand and surely the extra seats could be used against those teams that will bring a few fans.
