I have voted The mighty Priest, although only up to about 1981 those early shows at the city hall were the best.
I have never seen the Ripper owens lineup to me halford is judas priest.
they are back together i belive but as i say i lost interest after British Steel.
And i stopped listening to Maiden after 7th Son, it's good to see they are both still going at it though.

i saw priest at the arena in april and they put on a good show obviously they will never be as popular as they where in the 80s but heavy metal isnt about sales its the music:)

I agree panda it is all about the music, from what i read in the music press both Maiden and Priest are back on top of their game so i'd definately go see them live, i saw Rush last year at Birmingham and they also are as good as ever, it seems to me that 'metal' hit a flat spot for a while while the other rock styles came through, but the cream always rises as they say.

It's gotta be Maiden all the way for me, just love Bruce's voice, his solo work is pretty awesome too  just got tyranny of souls, but then again I could never get enough of hearing his voice :D

I did like Di'anno, I loved Running Free, loved the Iron Maiden album basically and when Bruce first took over I was a little unsure especially with Paul's voice on Phantom of the Opera, but I do think Bruce has more power to his voice, and I grew to love his voice more than Pauls
BTW I'm a fellow "oldie" too but that doesn't mean that we can't appreciate a good voice.

What do you think of Mike Patton's voice from FNM? he's another one of my faves purely for his vocal range.

Not too sure whether Patton was the 1st or 2nd singer, probably someone on here could tell us
I just fell in love with him after I heard his voice ;) he now looks the full greasy spaniard part but his vocals are weird and amazing:thumbsup:
But to be honest, Maiden have been one of the bands I've listened to for about 20 years, sometimes I've not bought anything of theirs for a year or so, and then I'll hear an "oldie" of theirs and it reminds me how much I love them, so then I start buying the cd's again ;)
I tend to have fads with bands, Foo Fighters and RHCP were all the rage for me 2 years ago but I slowed it down with them, then heard FF's new song Best of You and yet again it reminded how much I love Dave Grohls' voice

Patton was their last singer. Before that it was Chuck Moseley who couldn't actually sing for toffee but had a certain charm that I really liked.

Before that they had loads of singers including, at one point, Courtney Love! A-Ha!

Some of the stuff Patton has done post-Faith No More has been outstanding, would recommend most of it (especially Tomahawk and, ahem, Fantomas).

Maiden were the first 'Metal' band I had the pleasure of listening to, thanks to my mates older brother. Killers was the first album I heard and I was instantly taken, I am a Bruce Dickinson fan over the other two singers. However, I have got current albums by both Di'anno and Blaze Bayley.

Maiden rule, and Sharon Osbourne please don't **** with them as Nicko will run you over in his car with Sooty at the wheel

Judas Priest were the second band I ever saw back when I was a little oik (now a big oik but that's another story). The first band I saw was Saxon, but thats a story never to be told!! I was well into the NWOBHM until I discovered Bowie, Velvet Underground, Smiths, Iggy Pop etc etc
