House been robbed meaning "House been burgled?"

Not sure if my house can be robbed as it does not own anything to be robbed of. Am I just being pedantic or am I confused?

Actually I dislike responses that are just a couple of words long ;)

Shhh! I was just trying to get other people to post to your thread - and now you have gone and spoiled it.

Can you not add something religious or racist in the topic and then you'll soon find you have hundreds of pages of replies.

Something like "Have you ever been robbed by a racist chav christian on drugs?"

Sorted:hihi:

It is very misleading, your title is about robbery and your poll is about burglary, 2 completely different crimes.

That's it. See how the thread is slowly building momentum now?

Bit of religion, bit of sex, bit of rabid politics. Soon have it all sorted.

I've been at the wrong end of attempts at both.

Burgled once when I lived on South Road in Walkey. Police officer told me that there were about 30 people known to them within half a mile who could have done it! Never heard anymore of it though.

I've had my home broken into and burgled, been shoplifted and robbed at the shop and had my bag picked. Over a 30 year period admittedly, so not exactly a one woman crime wave. :) It's always upsetting though, in fact we moved house shortly after the burglary :(

And when you get around to clarifying that you don't mean robbed and really mean burgled howabout the thread title reading 'How many forum users have been robbed'? If you want to know annual burgalry rates for Sheffield I daresay you'll find some statistics somewhere.

I had my number plates stolen at Morrisons, Penistone Rd (in the middle of the afternoon!).

Also had a set of four alloy wheels with two good tyres stolen from my partner's father's house where they were being temporarily stored. I was gutted to say the least.

That's it for in Sheffield, anyway.

I had someone climb over my gate the other day. I discharged one round from my shotty and told the little <removed> that if he tried it again the other barrel would be discharged into his head.

I hope that he comes back.

I got burgled last night, I got in after having a few pints at the local went to bed at around midnight and awoke this morning to find my laptop and flat screen TV missing. I stupidly left a small kitchen window open and my house keys on the kitchen table so made things easy for the opportunist/opportunists. I'm going to get in touch with my house insurance tomorrow but I feel I've not got a chance of getting any cover due to leaving the window open.

Burgled I think 7 times.
Garden furniture stolen once.
Clothes stolen from washing line twice.
Robbed once, (for about £1 by over 10 people, I wonder if they shared it fairly)
A bicycle stolen whilst locked up in town.

Police response to all incidents, crime reference number given, no action taken.

I'll not mention assaults, minor thefts, thefts by family. However he police response has been the same. Even when I've been the one committing the crime.

whats your nickname ?

You have my sympathy pal, I live in Walkley and a few people near me have been burgled by opportunist thieves after leaving windows open. A young lad in the area had a thing for popping in houses unlocked and pinching handbags recently though thankfully he's been nicked.

Not burgled but mugged, in a very vicious way, and relieved of my money.

I've only had one thing stolen whilst living in Sheffield, my right wing mirror and the back section which attaches the mirror.... why?!?
What made me laugh was that this happened in Nether Green when I was visiting my Mum and nothing similar has happened in Batemoor which is seen as less of a nice area.
Think my Dad's been burgled 5 times, poor man.

I've lived in London for 5 years - burgled once.

I've lived in Leeds for 3 years - burgled 3 times (quick succession - obviously victimised by persons unknown)

I've lived in Sheffield for 8 years and have yet to be visited by my friendly local burglar.

My son was on a bus going through Burngreave which was hit by a bullet! Shattered glass but nobody hurt. His friend was mugged on Chesterfield Road last week.

On the whole though, from personal experience I'd say Sheffield deserves its reputation as one of the safer cities to live in.
