Man died as son, 7, drove on M5
A father died after he allowed his seven-year-old son to drive at 70mph along a motorway, an inquest heard.
Peter Mourier, 50, of Kingshill, Kempsey, Worcestershire, was killed when the car left the M5 and crashed into a tree on 4 March.
The boy was driving from the passenger seat when he hit an object between junctions 12 and 11a. He, and his two brothers in the back seat, were unhurt.
Gloucestershire coroner Alan Crickmore recorded a verdict of accidental death.
Mr Mourier had been drinking before getting in the car with his sons to drive from Gloucester back to their home, the inquest heard.
His son was driving with Mr Mourier's hand resting on the wheel.
A post-mortem examination showed Mr Mourier died of head injuries.

I wouldn't say anyone necessarily deserves to die but this is a prime candidate for the Darwin Awards.
However, he's already had three sons, so I hope stupidity isn't genetic.

Nobody deserves to die, but this man certainly deserved to be locked up.. No excuse for this kind of stupidity.

But what sort of effect will this have on that little boy who was made to drive? That poor little boy, he may feel responsible for his Father's death and unable to blame him he will blame himself.
Think the thread title is not right BUT I cant believe anyone could be quite so stupid even if they were drunk. What a disaster and how will that affect the rest of the family.

Bet it's a long time before he whinges for anything again......
he was under the legal drink driving limit.
He had doen the same on several occasions before.
As a mother of 3 sons I am just thankful that the children weren't killed as a result of the Father's stupidity!!
I don't think he deserved to die....that is a very strong post title IMO...his wife is left a widow and his sons without a Dad...tragic....!!
But if someone had to die....then better him that one or more of those three innocents...:(

Robbie, I personally think you should be ashamed of the title you've given this thread.
Yes, this man was very stupid. But I don't think you can say he DESERVED to die. He was a husband and father, and no doubt had lots of good qualities which enriched the lives of his family and friends.
It's a tragidy that such a bad judgement call ended his life and endangered the lives of others.
Jeez. . . it's just a title for the post.
The purposes of a post title is to grab your attention, which I think it did. .
In my opinion, if anything, the title could do with an addition. .
"Some people deserve to die (of natural selection)"
anybody who drinks & drives deserves exactly what they get.

I have no problems with the title of the post.
I'm sick of the way people get away with criminal or idiotic behaviour with just a slap on the wrist or a fine. A bit of divine intervention from the chap upstairs to get rid of the morons of this world suits me fine.
