(READING THINGS LIKE THIS REALLY WIND ME UP, WHAT TYPE OF LOW LIFE SCUM BAG DOES THIS TO A DEFENCELESS ANIMAL?)

SHEFFIELD STAR: 31 August 2005:

Who was owner of neglected pup Jake?
THIS poor abandoned pup was found wandering the streets of Sheffield with a skin infection and virtually no hair left on his flea-ridden body.

The RSPCA is appealing for information about his callous owners.
RSPCA chief inspector Matt Bell, who is leading the investigation, christened the two-year-old terrier-cross Jake after he was found in the Morgan Avenue, Barrie Crescent area of Parson Cross, Sheffield.
Jake was in intense pain from a severe flea infestation which had caused allergic dermatitis and a secondary skin infection. His hairless body was covered in raw, weeping scabs.
His eyes and ears were also infected as were his paws, which had swollen to twice their normal size.
Chief Insp Bell said: "I feel sure Jake belongs to someone in the area. He has not been straying for long as the pads of his feet were soft and his claws were overgrown, suggesting he had probably been confined for long periods in a very flea-infested house.
"Jake was in an absolute state when we found him but he would have taken weeks, if not months, to get this bad.
"Whoever owned him callously watched his condition deteriorate without paying any heed and it now appears they've dumped him without a second thought.
"I would urge anybody who recognises Jake and can identify his owner to get in touch.
"Jake didn't deserve this and I very much want to track down whoever was responsible."
Jake is being cared for at the RSPCA's Bawtry Animal Centre. Once he is fit and healthy he will be available for rehoming.
Anyone with information should contact the RSPCA's cruelty and advice line on 08705 555999. Calls are in confidence and are charged at the national rate.

I guess your using the term 'owner' in a relaxed sence.

You only have to look around at the way some people look after them selves and there children, to see where the problem roots from.

I just wonder why neighbours or friends do not pull 'owners' up about the state of there animails before things get to this stage.

Lets try and be a nation of animal lovers again x

I know this is off topic a little but......
Last week we tried getting in touch with the R.S.P.C.A. about a young cat and it took nearly an hour befor we got someone to talk too. The young cat is a very friendly thing and will go to anyone. The kid around here take great joy in making a fusss until they can pick it up and then throw the cat in the air. The owners of the cat are just{i think} moving onto the estate but have only been seen on very rare occations. The kitten is only getting fed when people like us feed it. When trying to get something done by the R.S,P.C.A.they wanted us to confine it and they would then try to get to pick it up.
Wetook the kitten and put him in a box from which he got out. Again we got it and this time put a brick on top of the box, again it got out we tried again but the poor thing was so stressed by this time that he woul not come near
The poor thing is still being fed by anyone except the owners and is now getting wary of people.

Sorry I just needed a rant.

If that was me, if I could get hold of the cat I would take it to either the RSPCA or the Cat Shelter myself. I wouldn't wait for it to be collected. The poor thing, mind you knowing me I'd probably take it in and keep it myself!
