Hi,

I'm off on a friends hen do to York for a couple of days and we wondered whether anyone had any suggestions of things to keep us entertained while were there? We'll be visiting plenty of pubs and clubs but just wondered about things to do in the day??

Any suggestions?

York boat do quite nice tours down the river ouse, they're ok. Or you can hire the little red boats....that's more fun!

You could walk the city walls; visit York Castle Museum (really good :thumbsup:); visit the Minster; stroll around the mediaeval shopping area; visit the Jorvic Viking Centre, or as CherryNicole suggests - take a leisurely boat trip along the river Ouse, and just chill out and relax.

Which clubs are you going to? What days are going? May I recommend the love of my life...the gallery, you may hate it, but I love it :D

Where about's is the gallery. I remember visiting some last time I went but can't remember the name or exactly where it is !! I had had abit to drink !

One of my friends bought a pub in York, the tend to have great party nights and the landlord is as mad as they come, see the following link. Give them a ring in advance and they'll probably offer you some sort of package, unless your going round the city on a crawl

Thanks, I actually know this bar and have been in when it was still the Grapes, sounds really good with DJ's and live music, we will definitely be going in!!!

If it's sunny, you have to spend some time by the river or in a park. Then hunt for the road called 'Whipmawhopmagate' and laugh for ages like I did.

The Gallery is on Clifford street and is right next door to York dungeons, really easy to find.

I love the Gallery as well Cherry, i've been going to Monday-wednesday nights for years!!

In fact i love going out in York in general. Loads of great bars and pubs.

If the gallery is as cheesy and great as it was back in my student days there, then definately go there!

Are Toffs and Ziggy's still going as well?

I went on the bus tour when I was in York for a day last year, and really enjoyed it. Get the one that goes down to the race course, cos it lasts a bit longer. The tour guide was really good. If you feel like exerting yourselves then go up the tower in the minster. You have to pay to go in the minster these days, but it's slightly less just to go up the tower, and the climb is more than worth it.
