View Full Version : Your Favourite Microwave Cooking Recipes?
I admit this was inspired by another post :suspect: :hihi:
(Draggletail's chips ;) )
but....
Does anybody have any favourite microwave recipes?
What do you bung in in a hurry?
How fantastic can you make a meal in a microwave?
(Okay - 'reheated beans' posts are allowed ;) )
Swan_Vesta 31-08-2005, 10:04 Really nice and easy:
Get a bowl and fill with mushrooms
Chop one clove of garlic and mix in
Add a table spoon of butter
Cover with clingfilm
Zap in the microwave for about 3 1/2 mins.
Hey presto, lovely buttery garlic mushrooms - Tasty as anything!
MuteWitness 31-08-2005, 10:24 do the mushrooms cook properly?
Swan_Vesta 31-08-2005, 11:04 They do, effectively all you're doing is cooking them in the butter - I'd adjust the times for whatever power microwave you have but they cook well and taste lovely, especially if you pour the melted butter over them once plated up (keeping back the garlic by straining through a small sieve)
sooooooo, is it safe to assume that out of all the microwaves in Sheffield, only one gets to cook something other than plastic dinners

Sounds too much like hard work to me ;)
Exploding Eggs!
Recipe:
1 Egg
2-3g Salt
1 Microwave safe plate
Put the egg on the plate and set the microwave for 3 minutes. When you hear a small explosion, your egg is done. Salt to taste.
Not very tasty, but can be quite fun!
(Kids don't try this one at home!)
cloudybay 03-09-2005, 09:36 Why do tinned carrots always explode in a microwave? Should I take them out of the tin first? :hihi:
sugarnspice 03-09-2005, 09:51 I've got it into my head that my Mum somehow used to make a cake in the microwave??? It was a scrumptious chocolate cake and I used to get fed up of waiting for it too cool down.
Has anyone else done this? And how would it be done???
She probably did Sugar...

 The idea was kind of that you'd be making some.
Oh I'm hungry now! :(
You can never have enough cake :) .. Am off to shops later to get the flour eggs n stuff. Will let you know if it ends up like a sponge volcano in the microwave :hihi:
I just called my stepmom to doublecheck the ingredients..
She recomends a plain sponge with a spoon of ginger powder and treacle :)
