View Full Version : Best scene in the Simpsons?
What do you all rate as your favourite scene in the SImpsons? I know there are loads so it'll be hard to choose!
I think my fave is the Trainspotting take off when Bart and Lisa get high on sugar in the British episode. Seen it 3 times now and still makes me laugh out loud. Possibly cos back in the day when I was at college we had to do a film module on Trainspotting so I watched the film, read the book and all the press coverage etc umpteen times until I was totally sick of it even though I had thought it was great (finally rewatched it 8 years later and found I could still recite most of the script).
Anyway, back to the Simpsons, that's my favourite scene... I think. What about anyone else?
sugarnspice 31-08-2005, 09:34 Oooooh that's a hard question actually as there are so many, as you say.
For me I think it's the one where Homer is assistant to Kim Bassinger and they have the car chase. It's where Ron Howard tries to jump from the moving car after the others have failed and lands in the road. I still almost wet myself every time I see it. I have no idea why it tickles me still this very much now. But I am giggling just thinking about it. :hihi:
zombiekillah 31-08-2005, 09:37 There's probably another one i like more but off the top of my head i love the scene with homer and pinchy the lobster where pinchys in a paddling pool in their living room .... "awww ... pinchy ... just like the boy!" haha cracks me up for some reason! Lobsters are greeeat :D
The discussion between Bart and Lisa about the common continuity errors in cartoons, whilst in the background one Homer sits on the couch and another walks past the window outside.:hihi:
They're all in a car. Homer drives into a statue or something then a deer jumps out and scampers away. The dialogue goes:
Homer: "Doh"
Lisa: "A deer"
Marge: "A female deer!"

Hehe. Yeah that was very funny.
Also, where Homer does the ill fated Poochie character.
And this is great: where the kids are stuck on an island and as a way of ending the show a voice over says that someone rescued them. "Oh, let's say Mo did it". PMSL. Fantastic!

Or whilst they were in Japan and Marge reminds a Homer of how much he loved Akira Kurosawa's Kagemusha, and his response:
"Well that's not how I remember it!"
ROFL!
JonJParr 31-08-2005, 10:14 My favourite scene was where Homer was pretending to be Fred Flintstone.
[sung to the theme tune of Flintstones]
I'm Homer - Homer Simpson
I'm the greatest guy in history
From the town of Springfield
I'm about to hit a chestnut tree.
Ahhhh....
From the 1st series, when Homer tries to commit suicide of the bridge.
He carries a large boulder out of the garden, but the gates sqeeks so he goes to all the trouble of oiling it(like you would on your way to kill yourself)
When he arrives at the bridge with the huge boulder there is an identical one on the bridge! class.
Also like the one with Stampey the Elephant where he brakes loose and homer says follow the scene of destruction, but there happened to be a tornado at the same time!

Ahhhh....
Pedantic moment...it was "...he's about to hit a chestnut tree..."
That made me chuckle as it seemed the only way his overtaxed and underpowered brain could get the message through was to insert the warning into the song!
Mrs Carmine and I had that as the start up tune on the home PC for ages.
Greenback 31-08-2005, 10:30 There are so, so many.
I like the bit where Homer's hunting for a peanut down the side of the sofa, only to find 20 dollars instead.
Homer: Awww... 20 dollars? I wanted a peanut!
Homer's brain: 20 dollars can buy many peanuts.
Homer: Explain how.
Homer's brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services.
Homer: WOO-HOO!
Or this.
Chief Wiggum: Put out an APB on a Uosdwis R. Dewoh. Uh, better start with Greektown.
Friday: That's "Homer J. Simpson", Chief. You're reading it upside down.
Wiggum: Uh, cancel that APB. But, uh, bring back some of them, uh, gyros.
Friday: Uh, Chief? You're talking into your wallet.
After Homer's brain surgery:
Marge: The doctor said you lost 15 percent of your brain.
Homer: (Laughing) Me loose 15 percent of brain?
Marge, Bart and Lisa all laugh with Homer.
Homer: (Quietly) Why me laugh?
I like most of the moments off the episode of Mr. Plow
The adverts that the simpsons make
Bart:
"Your company is fully licensed and insured isn't it Mr. Plow?"
Homer/Mr.Plow:
"Shut up boy!"
Homer discovers that Barney also has a plow
Barney: "Come on Homer. There's nothing wrong with a little friendly competition"
*Barney drives off, shooting the tires on Homer's plow*
StarSparkle 31-08-2005, 12:43 So, so many.
But my favourite's the one where Homer and Krusty end up kidnapped by the Mafia 'cos Krusty owes them some money, and the two of them do a trick on Krusty's unicycle to save their lives, which partly involves Homer's head tapping out the 'Godfather' theme on some bottles. Turns out Krusty owes them something like 40 cents!
Also, the one where Lisa helps Mr Burns rebuild his empire through 'Lil Lisa Slurry', and he offers her a cheque to buy her out, but her conscience won't let her accept it. When Homer thinks she's turned down a cheque for around $10,000 he collapses and needs quadruple-bypass surgery. Then Lisa tells him the cheque was actually for $10 million......
StarSparkle
I like when Homer is a food critic and he's trying to write a report and asks the dog, to which it replies "RUFF" - "yes it was rough"
Next the dog says "CHHHEEEWWWWYY"
either that or when homer is trying to give the dog away.
Go on boy, tell the man you love him....
Homer: RI ROVE ROU
BrainThrust 31-08-2005, 12:55 one sentence:
Joey Joe-Joe! Come back!
Classic
Wilf
lexatron 31-08-2005, 13:46 hahahaha yeh that's my favourite too
homer: uhm joey...jo-jo....junior?
moe: that's the stupidest name i ever heard
classic indeed.
banesmabes 31-08-2005, 14:23 I love the little visual gags that you don’t always notice on first watching. Like the one where there is the advert about golden tickets being hidden in packets of bacon and you can win a trip around the bacon factory. You see the pigs going along a conveyor belt and dropping away to be slaughtered, and in the line of pigs is Ralph Wiggam just stood there as he moves steadily closer to the chopper!
seanyboy 01-09-2005, 18:51 Homer: "Hello my name is Mr Burns. I believe you have a letter for me..."
Post office Worker: "Whats your first name?"
Homer: " I don't know"
:D Funny moment, all about the way homer says it!
ReginaldD 01-09-2005, 19:27 The one wher homer is the driver of the monorail, its about to crash and they get save by a giant doughnut, thats a good one. I'll probably think of another one later though, too many to pick a best one.
limpetboy 01-09-2005, 19:27 The one where Homer is driving through Springfield to the theme tune of The Sporanos always makes me giggle
The scene where Homer has his gun...
Marge : You lied to me...
Homer : C'mon Marge! How was I supposed to know the boy would look in the Vegetable Crisper
:hihi:
Or this one has to be along the all time classics..
Homer & Mindy
<Mindy enters the lift>
Homer : Agggggggh, I mean He-Hello
Mindy : I'll guess we'll be going down together, I mean getting of together..
Homer : I'll just push the button for the stimulator, I mean Elevator
:hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

That's a favourite of mine too, along with the one where Homer gains weight to qualify for disability and Bart says he wants to be a 'lardo on workmans comp just like Dad' and then you see a dream sequence with Bart washing himself with a rag on a stick!
There's also the scene in the same episode where Homer buys the mu-mu, gets barred from the cinema and steals the ice cream truck!
How about the Halloween special where Homer becomes real? Or the parody of The Fly?
I like the bit where Homer rewires the toaster in the cellar and everytime it pops up reality totally changes! It starts raining donuts etc...
And a zillion other simpson bits.. I can't even begin to think of all the best scenes cos almost every episode has at least one classic moment.. top stuf!
the kid who always say's 'AH-HA!' saying it to a squashed up bloke in a car who then gets out and is about 8 foot tall!!
Really made me laugh!
When Marge questions Homer on his new get rich quick scheme - selling grease.
"Marge, if you don't mind im trying to gain financial independence"
"Through cans of grease?!"
"NOOO, through savings and wise investments, OF COURSE with grease".
absolutely legendary.
zombiekillah 01-09-2005, 22:57 can't remember the exact scene but homer and marge are in bed ,
Homer ' c'mon marge , its uterus not uteryou'
lol cracks me up every time
dishwasher 02-09-2005, 08:30 'Marge, what's the number for 911?'
There really are too many to mention. I do, however, think the earlier shows were the best ones.
Burns in the Post Office:
"I wish to send this message sent by autogyro to the Prussian consulate in Siam!"
Prussia no longer exists, Siam is now Thailand and what the ***** is an autogyro?

Did anyone see last weeks new Simpsons where Bart and Lisa were grown up? It was absolutely pathetic with no funny lines in it whatsoever.
KookyKoo 02-09-2005, 12:24 my personal fave is when they go to the BBQ at Mr Burns' house and Homer interrupts Lisa and Bart arguing because they're making a bad impression. He asks them what they're fighting about and they say it's over who loves him the most. Homer goes "awww" and walks away feeling (I guess) all warm and fuzzy. Then we hear Bart and Lisa's argument- "you do!". "No, you do!" PMSL
Yodameister 24-09-2005, 17:52 Great conversation between Homer n Marge on episode I've just seen:
Homer: While you're at home lazing around washing, ironing and cooking I'm iout at work
Marge: Well from what I've heard, you arrive at 1030, have a sleep on the toilet and spend the rest of the day googling your own name
Homer: Where did you get that idea from
Marge: You shouted it while we were making love!
I just think the scene that conjours up is hilarious!
*sits with 35Gb of Simpsons on his computer*
hmm... 15 seasons of simpsons... pick a favourite moment?... give me two weeks! :D
hmm, really can't pick a favourite moment, there are just TOO many, Simpsons has got to be by far one of the best cartoons ever, and the best thing is it's aimed at adults and children, there are SO many things that kids minds just float straight over and when your older and watch it you see these things and it adds even more amusement! :D
anyways I think maybe...
I am so smart,
I am so smart,
S M R T,
I mean S M A R T. :hihi:
http://funny2.com/homer.htm is full of classics :D
My fave Simpsons is when Maggie spoke for the first time... after Homer kept telling her to say dada!
He takes Maggie up to bed... walks out the room after tucking her in and she says it... aww so emotional :hihi:
I like this one:
"Marge, it takes two to lie. One to lie, and one to listen."
Homer goes to shoot a turkey
Homer - "The turkey, the only animal more intelligent than man"
Homer sees turkey - "What the hell is that?"
Tubthump 27-09-2005, 14:56 I love that Mindy episode, there's a hilarious gag every five seconds. One of my favourite bits is when Homer is reciting a prepared speech written on the back of his hand. Walking down the corridors of the power plant, some of his other colleagues are rehearsing speeches of their own:
Homer: [reads writing on his palm] "Mindy, because of our uncontrollable attraction, I think we should avoid each other from now on."
Lenny: [reads writing on his own palm] "Max, what I did, I did because of alcohol and anger."
Man 2: [reads writing on his own large palm] "I am tired of these jokes about my giant hand. The first such incidents occurred in 1956 when..."
Tubthump 27-09-2005, 15:00 Homer to Lenny and Carl from the same Mindy episode:
Homer: So...what do you guys think of Mindy?
Carl: Seems OK. Anybody see the game last night?
Homer: Yeah...that Mindy seems real nice.
Lenny: Homer, what's with you? You're talking during a coffee break.
Carl: Yeah. You usually just take the box of donuts into the bathroom.
Homer: Mindy has a motorcycle.
michaelmyers 29-09-2005, 09:21 this may not be completely accurate.
the episode where lisa cheats to get an A and the schools gets sponsorship, Gil comes to sell them a Coleco computer but fails, but phones his wife to inform her "of the good news".
Gil : I almost got a sale! .... Who's that in the background?.... Frank?....... But you said it was over!!..... No, don't put him on.... Hi Frank!!!"
the whole episode of where homer becomes duffman, then duffman, aka kevin duff...man needs to be him
oasismark 30-09-2005, 13:51 When there cooking a pig and rolls down the hill on a trolly, Bart and homer are chasing it and when it gets mucky homer say "it's ok, it's just a little dirty!, but when it gets shot through the sky Homer says " it's ok, its just alittle airborne!"
PMSL
soo many....
Isn't that guys full name Joey Jo-Jo Jr. Shabadoo?
"Joey Jo-Jo come back!"
LOL
When Homer is in 3D
Homer "I'm somewhere where i don't know where i am"
Marge "Can you see towels? If you can see towels your in the closet"
When Homer is in hospital...
"you have machines that breath for you and here's me using my own lungs!"
When homer gets fat to work from home...
"Your fingers are too big to press the buttons, if you require a new telephone please MASH the keypad now"
The one where homer is skiing down a slope and his leg's part to far and says "o my god this is the worse pain ever" followed by heaps of snow repeatadle hitting his crotch.
It get's funnier every single time i see it.
AtticusFinch 30-09-2005, 16:16 There are loads to choose from, but my favourite scene is from the episode where Homer becomes a food critic. When explaining why he'd be suitable for the job, he bursts into a song, which ends:
"I could even eat a baby deer
Fa la la la la.... baby deer"
Just the way that he does the "fa la la la la" and the accompanying little dance cracks me up every single time that I see it. :D
Dont know which one it is,
but when homers eating the baby lobster, it made roll round in fits of laughter!

Aha.. that reminds me of the one where the Flanders' foster the Simpson kids, and Marge tries to ring them
"The number you have dialled can not be reached from this phone. You.. negligent.. monster".
Or, when Homer is trying to get the clamps off his car in New York.
(professional woman voice "Thank you for calling, your parking attendant is Steve (voice change to gruff male) Grabowski"
tslogf74 03-10-2005, 21:25 I love the Springfield Files episode where Mulder and Scully make guest appearances, and Mo spends the whole episode trying to smuggle a killer whale back into Sea World because he thinks the Feds are onto him.
CherryNicole 03-10-2005, 21:39 Ok this won't be explained but I have 2 favs....
The one where homer is skakeboarding over the ravine and he falls and is air lifted out but he keeps hitting his head and then the ambulance hits the tree :D I love it!
(and if you thought that was described badly....)
The one where....erm theres this super hero and they're filming something, and theres radioactive waste, and the only protection he has is some goggles, lol, I don't know but the line is 'Ah, mein eyes, the goggles do nothing!' :D cracks me up
Ousetunes 04-10-2005, 08:50 There's the one where Marge goes away and leaves Homer to look after the kids.
One scene is of Homer wearing Marge's wedding dress (complete with bouquet) as they've ran out of everything else to wear!!
I also like the Eat All You Can one where Homer rushes to the salad bar and lifts the whole container out - wahooo!!
Finally, there's the one with the doctor where he says (something like) 'Sorry Mrs Simpson, but your husband is dead'.
He then breaks into his little laugh ('only kidding') which leaves Marge, Lisa, Bart, Maggie and Doc laughing their heads off.
Freebird 14-10-2005, 18:58 Anyone Who Wants To See My Favourite Simpsons Moment Should Check Out Tonight's Episode On Channel 4 (9:00pm).
It's The One Where Bart Wants To Become A Daredevil.
My Favourite Bit Is When Homer Makes The Jump Over The Canyon Instead Of Bart. The Jump,And Subsequent Crash/Rescue Always Has Me In Stitches.
cptwhite 16-10-2005, 09:10 Too too many to list. Here's a few I remember:
Homie's worries about bart's sexuality so to bolster his macho side takes him to a steel works to show him how real men act. While there the bell rings for break at which point everyone strips out of there uniforms, disco lights come on and they all start dancing to YMCA...the supervisor tells homer "we work hard, and we play hard"....absolutely surreal and pure genious.
Another was on TV a few weeks back - Marge is sent to prison so all household chores go to hell. They quickly start running out of clean cloths at which point homer rummages in the loft and declares "hey kids there's loads more clothes up here!" before emerging in Marge's wedding dress. Cut to a few days later and he's visiting Marge -
Marge "hmmm Homie are you wearing an old halloween costume from the loft"
camera cuts to Homer
Homer ...pauses..."Nooooo?"
(he's in a full red lycra devil custome with horns)
The ep where burns and smithers are breaking into Homer's house, they're sliding down the grapple hook rope - Mr Burns gets stuck in the middle cos it wasn't tight enough, Smithers slides down and bumps into Mr Burns from behind and likes out an erotic "ooooooohhhh"...LOL
Yodameister 16-10-2005, 09:44 It is quite worrying the amount of Simpons there is on TV now, because whenever anyone mentions a scene on here, I seem to see it on TV within a week or two.
On Channel 4 6 times a week, and on Sky probably16 or 18 times. I don't watch *all* of them, I don't know how many episodes there are in total but they must get thorugh every one in a pretty short time.
FairyNormal 17-10-2005, 22:12 For me it has to be the episode where Bart wins an elephant on the radio phone-in. It escapes and runs amok through Springfield and a comment is made that it looks like a tornado has hit.
Just then, a tornado passes by with Patty and Selma on top, both sat in rocking chairs. One says to the other, "Oooh, I can feel it right up my skirt!!" I don't know why but it cracks me up every time!!
spyro2000 17-10-2005, 22:47 One of my favourites is the one where Nelson is laughing at that lanky geeza in the small car, then the lanky geeza turns the tables on him and makes Nelson the butt of the joke :)
RodimusPrime 18-10-2005, 11:10 The episode where Homer finds a Japanese soap powder box (Mr Sparkle) on the dump which inexplicably has a picture of his head on it. Homer becomes obsessed with the box and they end up getting a translation ('He identifies himself as a magnet for foodstuffs. He boasts that he will banish dirt to the land of wind and ghosts') and finally a promotional video from the Mr Sparkle company. The whole video sequence is such an accurate take-off of the surrealness of translated Japanese culture it totally cracked me up.
I've had to look this up, but it goes something like this:
A housewife in her kitchen blows a whistle, bringing Mr. Sparkle (who looks like Homer's disembodied head) to life off of his box. He calls to her.
MR. SPARKLE:
I'm disrespectful to dirt! Can you see I
am serious?
Mr. Sparkle hovers over her dirty dishes, releasing sparkles over them. The dishes' grime disappears. Mr. Sparkle floats to the living room, where he bounces over a baby's xylophone. He then appears underwater, where three women are dancing.
MR. SPARKLE:
Get out of my way, all of you! This is no
place for loafers. Join me or die. Can you do any less?
The women stop dancing.
THE WOMEN:
What a brave corporate logo! I
accept the challenge of "Mr. Sparkle."
WOMAN I:
Awsoma power!
Mr. Sparkle blows magic dust over the girls as a graphic of a drumming monkey toy hovers in the upper left of the screen. The dust turns the girls into blue Sumos. The scene changes to a reporter interviewing a two-headed cow.
REPORTER:
Any plans for the summer?
Mr. Sparkle appears and shatters the cow. It's disembodied eyes blink at him. The scene changes to Mr. Sparkle coming at us from an orange background.
MR. SPARKLE:
For lucky best wash, use Mr. Sparkle!
Glory_Box 20-10-2005, 17:04 My favourite bit in 'The Simpsons' is when Homer is watching a British sitcom and Bart asks him what he's watching:
Homer:
It's called 'Do Shut Up', when they're not having a go with the bird, they're having a row with the ******!
Just hearing an American say '******' is really funny!
