been watching cliffhanger tonight and that opening sequence was sooooo frightening as that girl fell to her death


falling is the most primeval fear...so what are the most frightening falls in film???

Could be getting too involved in these polls nows, but I can't vote for any of the above. (Sorry).

My favourite fall in a movie is the baby in the pram falling down the steps in 'The Untouchables', which is I believe copied from another, much older film.

Now that scene stayed with me, whereas Sly Stallone gurning as his wifey fell down a special effect did nothing for me.

Oh, it's neck and neck between Towering Inferno and King Kong - with 1 vote each!

King Kong gets my vote - because it is such an old film, and yet we all remember that gorilla falling off the Empire State Building! :clap:

OK. I've voted now, and it's King Kong. Because I remember feeling so sad for him.

I remember the scene quite vividly...yet I watched the movie years ago...she just slips from his grasp....awful to watch!!

however the most realistic jump imo was from one the bonds openings whne he goes of a dam i think. they tested the jump/fall with ballast the same wight as the stunt man. on every test the rope snapped, the only succesful jump was the one on film (allegedly).
