Hey im 18 and want to take my girlfriend out with a couple of friends to a nice restaurant near town so we can go on to clubs after, can anyone reccomend a good one? whats atmosphere and prices like?

The Wig and Pen (behind the Cathedral) has some really good reports ..

ermmmm anythin but indian food because i find it to spicy and seafood.

not bothered what i eat because ill try everything once i just know i dont like indian or seafood, i dont want to pay anywhere over the top as im still in college n aint that rich!!! went to a chinese restaurant in town before and it cost us all about 15-20 quid each just for main meal and a drink so i dont know if that was good or not.

Which Chinese was that?

Hui Wei on Glossop Road is far cheaper and then there's the oriental buffets by the Crucible and near Ponds Forge.

to be honest i was rather drunk at the time as it was 11pm on my birthday, i know its somewhere near republic as thats where we were heading and i had to walk up some stairs to get there as it was above something lol sorry for the details

Well, Hui Wei gets my vote right now...otherwise BB's on Division Street is a nice little Italian.

Yeah, it's about on par with No.1 Oriental Buffet down by Ponds Forge in terms of price and quality of food.

They balance out as No.1 is more spacious, but Jumbo has the advantage of not employing hordes of staff who tend to hover a little too close while you eat!

For a good value menu with lots of choice then you can't fault BB's the Italian on Division St. They are really good at catering for big groups and making sure that everyone eats hot food at the same time. Always has an atmosphere and the staff are really friendly without standing over you.

They are also great as its bring your own wine (or beer or spirits) and no corkage fee. Plus perfectly placed for going out after...

If you fancy something that is a little nicer on the decor side and are eating earlier then the Lion's Lair on the side road next to John Lewis and down from Kingdom is great, the menu ranges in price but you can expect to pay around £8ish for a main.

The chef is amazing and the food ranges from modern english to thai and a selection of sandwiches and wraps on the light menu.

The crowd is slightly older in there though, if you fancy checking it out they do have a beer garden out the back which is lovely on a hot sunny day like today!

i might try that bbs but i know nothing about wine so ill just buy it there lol, 2 me the more expensive the better lol,
